How does a 435i turn into a 640d?

Probably the best looking Beamer alongside the z4 (from the current line up)
Would be interested to see what actual mpg you get...

Once again well done.

It's the best of the crop.

Next car up from it would be one of the super cars(458/12C/Lamborghini/Aston)

Congrats.

Wow that is a gorgeous

I really like the new 6, certainly a massive improvement over the old on..

Channy, the only thing better than the outside is the luxury inside. Economy should be ok, my FIL averaged just over 37mpg and he only ever drove short distances at low speed..... Bit of a waste really.

Biggiz. Nice driveway collection and the M135i is hardly a hardship. Are you on babybmw? Pretty sure you are one and the same, If so it sounds like you just did Tim a good deal on a like for like. You'll probably be inundated with requests..... Just drafting mine up :D

Thank you for the great comments forum chums!

Took her to work today... :o

I finished work and was looking for the zed and then gleaming beautifully in the corner I see the big 6. :D

Smiles all the way home. Can't wait for 2,500 miles to be racked up then I can let those horses loose!

Darn those dealers... just as I'd dismissed the idea, they've come back to me with even more discount.... aarg lol

Its the gran coupe (I want more space than the coupe offers, and a slightly more compliant ride). In white with black leather. Complete opposite of what I have now colour wise.

What do you guys think to the car in white? Does it lose some definition? The black interior also makes me go 'mmm' not sure' as while it will take some hammer I guess, it doesn't look that spectacular for a £73,000 car. I like a bit of colour, like the walnut for example. That's what I'd have if I had it built to order. The one they're offering is already built pre-reg but with better than new discount. I wish I could get this level of discount on a 5 LCI because I'd have that in a heartbeat. Not as sophisticated as a 6, but more roomy, practical and still looks the business. Plus way way cheaper.

Maniac, don't buy something you are not sure of just because it's a bargain

I'm going to take a look at it on Saturday Sars, I'm warming to the idea of white outside, but all black leather, black headlining etc just sounds a bit oppressive in a tourer. I'll gauge how I feel when I'm in it/take a drive. In the end its a few grand cheaper than buying one made to order. If I don't like the feel of the black interior, then I'll spend the extra and buy one built for me. I've checked payments vs a nice 535d and its actually cheaper to get the 640d gran coupe with the offer they have on, built to a similar spec!

Jeez you must be nuts Maniac!! Isn't this the deal where you basically chop your current (paid for car) in as deposit, pay some huge monthly payment for 2-3 years and then have nothing to show for it? Do as you originally said, up your mortgage payments and get that paid off. A far more sensible approach than chucking a load of dosh on these. As nice as these are, and they are very nice indeed, they are absolute money pits. Your car is barely run in too.

Its a battle of heart over head... I just want something more practical and comfy but with the style I have in the Z... I really liked the 5 series I had as a loaner while the Z had its wheel bearing sorted. It was just so nice to not have to avoid potholes and rough roads, and to just waft along so much more relaxed on the commute. The OH keeps telling me no, don't be stupid, complete waste of money changing the car. Having paid it off not long ago too. Yes its a chop in the car as deposit, sub £300 payment pcm tho, not bad at all, but then at year 3 nada unless I pay it off (28K GFV). I said I'd never do PCP too, how quickly I forget.

Perhaps its better to get a second car... I can keep my baby and still have a knock about car too. Having said that, I'm on the OH's car insurance so that might be a waste too, who needs three cars...

I'm still going to see it and test drive it... the test for me is always getting back in my own car and whether I go 'ah nice to be home' or 'hmm, that other car was nice'.. the latter of which I've not done after any test drive in the last 3+ years. The one thing it is making me do, the thought of all this, is enjoy mine more. Been flooring it all over the place lol going 'holy s**t I forgot how fast this is'.

LATEST UPDATE

Well after 600+ miles on the clock I have only one word to describe my big 6...fanblummingtastic!!!!

Every time I walk back to it I do have to pinch myself. It looks so aggressive and fast even when stood still. In terms of MPG, I have been doing commutes in stop start traffic and a trip to Bristol, the magic number is 49. So if it's there already when the engine hasn't been bedded in yet it can only bode well for next weeks run.

Even in Eco-Pro mode when I prod on the accelerator it just instantly surges (below 3k revs of course). Cannnoottt wait until the 1,500 mile mark when I can fully open the taps in manual Sport + mode. :driving:

Inside, you cannot underestimate the pure luxury and refinement. Of course there is some, although not intrusive, tyre roar when at 80mph (20" tyres you know) but otherwise very quite and serene. The seats are the most comfortable and supporting of any beamer seats I have had. The sound system is spot on, I watched Top Gun whilst in traffic and the surround sound is awesome.

I also had similar thoughts about the dark interior but the contrast white stitching on the nappa extended leather does break this up nicely. The size of the car makes it look very imposing on the road and the size took me a good couple hundred miles on the twisty stuff to get used to it.

I do see zeds quite often and I wave but then remember that I am in a 6 now. Don't get me wrong I do love the Zed and when I see one I can say to myself I had one of those beauts and smile.

Do I regret the change, in short, no. This is the car for me now and I feel very privileged to be driving her. So when you drive the car on the weekend you will be signing the dotted line, guaranteed. However, like I said in an earlier post if I owned a zed with the extended leather with the 35i and with no need to change then the decision would be extremely difficult too.

:driving: the 6 gives me lots of :) :) :) and makes me feel very :D !!!

I have been trying to talk the mrs into buying one as I love them loads & we looked at one in deep sea blue with white leather & I really liked the combo, I love my M3 in white i just think it suits it but if i am honest I am not sure it suits the 6 series as much & I just think you lose the impact of that gorgeous shape, but colour will always be subjective.

I didnt like my Z4 in black as it hid all the spoilers & detail you just can't win!

That is a monster car, really a worthwhile vehicle if you can afford the initial outlay
