How does a 435i turn into a 640d?

Maniac. What would the situation be if you sold your Z4 and put that cash into the mortgage rather than a PCP?

I'm on my first ever PCP at the moment having always bought used in the past. When I went onto PCP I sold both the cars i had at the time. Put the smallest deposit I could into the PCP and banked a decent sum of cash. I went into the PCP thinking further down the line at what the equity might be and not putting more than that in a a deposit. I also know full well it's not a financially sensible thing to do in general. I didn't kid myself it's a cheap way to own a car, it's an affordable way of owning a new car on a monthly basis that you would otherwise not be able to afford outright and that's it.

Making a massive leap of assumption looking at Channy's car list i would assume he rolls from 1 PCP to the next (apologies if wrong, it's really nobodies business but i think a lot of people on PCP do this). When I entered into the deal I figured this is what I would end up doing so effectively I will just constantly pay out X amount per month and chop the car in for a new car every couple of years.

Well IF I got around 18-20K for my car privately, that could go into the mortgage and reduce the payment term. However it would make the 640d payments more than double per month to well over £700 (!) for the 640d. The offer on the 640d is 0% which makes several thousand pounds of difference to payments over the 3 year term.

The more I look at this, the more I simply don't want to get into another 3 years of payments on any car at all. Even switching to the 5 series I've always been drawn to second hand which would be around 6K to switch means £240 a month over 3 years. I just don't want to keep paying out. It took me just over two years to pay off the Z, and that felt like an age. It would make sense to pay anything off rapidly, so I could pay out the 6K in cash, but then that's a dent in savings spent on something that's depreciating.

The best deal here, is to do nothing at all and keep the car I've already paid for. I can't resist the temptation to test drive the 640d GC this weekend though and I'll no doubt report back other feelings once that's done too!

common sense says you should stick with the z..... i would... but then again the grass is always greener on the other side but it comes at a greater cost

im tempted to give mine back as soon as my pcp allows and just pay cash outright for whatever fits the bill come the time

At the dealership now just waiting to see and drive the CG.

There is a stunning 535D LCI here with loads of options and 10k off new (adaptive LED headlights etc). OOF...

So, the 640d is immense. The power makes your brain tingle, it feels easily as quick as my car. Handling is good. Suspension a little hard/crashy for a big car but that's the trade off vs good handling. Looked great in white. Black interior as expected was not to my taste. The whole interior felt very dark and gloomy compared to what I have now. So if I go with this, it's likely not a stock car which means more in payments.. Lots to think about.

I have also tried the 640d, superb car imho, but physically to large for me, i will keep this 35is long term i think, (i bought it outright) going into storage for the winter soon. But what has got my interest is the new M4 coming early next year and also the talk of an M2, very intersting if that happens. :)http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/bmw/34892/new-bmw-m2-coupe-revealed

I think I've whittled this down...

The 640d GC offers me all I have now, but with two extra seats that I only really need now and then. Worth spending another £68k for?

You already know the answer to that question! :)
