How does a 435i turn into a 640d?

Well done with the deal on the new car.

As I said the 6 series Coupe is gorgeous and in M Sport guise too :driving: .

Looking forward to the pics, enjoy.
+1

Really big fan of the 6 Coupe they look gorgeous on the road whenever I see one :driving:

Been on the phone to them this morning, they have a big choice of cars available. I can say there is a BMW contribution and 0% finance on offer....the rest is being worked on.

Will keep you posted!!!

Ps the numbers will have to be really really good to make me part with my money. Not looking great as the list price of their car is £71,000!!!!!!!

It seems I have started a mini exodus.

Still loving the Z4 though so it's not that. I just need a car that suits my current needs and unfortunatley it's not the Zed

Good luck with the deal. Just out of interest did they say how many were available as I only had a choice of 2 on the weekend. And what is the spec of the one you are looking at if you don't mind me asking.

Hello, fresh back from the dealership and guess what a little bit more haggling and I am an owner of a new 640d MSport. :D :D :D

The deal I got for a pre-built not even registered MY2013 Msport, Alpine White, Soft Closing Doors and Professional Loudspeakers works out better than a fully specced up 435i Msport with Adaptive suspension and Harmon Kardon speakers! :o

I was told that there are quite a few MY2013 build cars in the network that were forced on dealerships. Each having between 4-6 of them. So fully paid for and now the dealerships are wanting that money back. So when you see the contribution on the configurator (£13k or so), well you can do much much better than that. There are cars with different specs so as long as you don't mind pre-built cars then keep specs minimal with a standard colour (*cough* recession white or charcoal black) then you are on for a winner.

My dealer was Williams Rochdale and the very nice chap who convinced me I could be in a 640d by the end of the week is called Adrian. And even with United losing to Liverpool my smile has not dropped! If anyone is interested the other car offered is the same but with DAB (guessing late 2013 build) instead of the Professional Loudspeakers, it's Charcoal Black with Dakota Cream Leather. I won't disclose figures as that would be unfair on Adrian for the mega deal I did get but if you are willing to negotiate then you could get a 640d too.

Don't get me wrong I am quite sad to see the Zed go so soon but circumstances have changed for me. However, I am a forum member for life so will be here as always but who knows the next car might be next Zed! :)

Congrats! The 6 series is a lovely big car, different to the Zed, but sometimes a change is just what we all need!

He had 2 convertibles, and a coupe (in carbon black with white nappa) and another white coupe. Plus a gran coupe...

Specs are pretty similar, none though with any special hi fi's....

Cool, you interested in any?

Had my figures back today, they matched the number I wanted to pay.....only issue is the car has a whole load of options I don't want.

Very very good dealer contribution......

I don't think they will get near the Z4 money I pay otherwise, admittedly, I'd be tempted to make a shift. They are gorgeous cars!

Only issue is, you're being lured into the huge depreciation drop, ok the dealer contribution will offset much of that, but remember the VAT alone is 12k....it's a tough decision.

Same for any new car. Depreciation is a stinger and the only way to allay this is not to sell the car once bought.

It's whether you want something new that you will keep, or are happy to have a pre-owned. I'd always get new if I could given the number of cars that I've had problems with second hand.

Which leads to an interesting point of course. The lure here is to own a very exclusive luxury car. That's the positive.

The negative is cost. Now if you're sensible you'll go for the pcp deal as its 0%. Spread this over as many years as possible to ensure to lowest payment. It's better to do that and have your own money sat in the back accruing even basic interest. Add to that putting in only a minimal deposit for the same reasons. Keep in mind you're leasing this car not buying it because at the end of the term most people will hand it back and not buy it outright as GFV is £20k which for most will mean an interest based bank loan.

So the car is £69k ish with options, you put a grand in and they give you £15k off say after a bit more haggling. That's £53k to pay over pcp. The GFV is £21k leaving you to pay £32k ish over 4 years at around £680 a month. BMW are effectively paying vat plus a bit then you are paying depreciation if you want to look at it that way, or a lease cost if you want to look at it another way. Over 3 years its around £730 a month with a GFV of £27K.

Depends how affluent you are and whether you're happy to pay to have nothing at the end, same old pcp story. But in this instance the pain of an expensive car is dulled by no interest payment and large contribution.

As is always the case with cars, its a heart over head thing. Do you need the money for something else?

Oh and I've just thought of another negative reason to get a 640d... The forums for the 6 series are sh!te...

To be honest I did worry about depreciation too at first but if you look at one year old cars they hover around the £52-54k mark. So how I see it is that the year 1 depreciation has already been taking into account by the fact of the contribution. So no brainer from that point, heart was talking louder than head!

That is too true but you can find real gems if you use the F10 forums too. Like finding out how the multifunctional display will be my first and last mod for my F13. But agree that the Z4-forum is by far the best one out there.

If you Youtube BMW 6WB you'll see what I mean. You may not like it but this is true starship enterprise, hehehe!!! And last because it'll cost over £1k to buy but it will only take 30mins to get up and running. Check it out.

I think you'll love it Channy. I'm just not so sure about those payments, they're bigger than my mortgage lol You're a worse serial car changer than me though looking at your signature. Seems you change every year or two! Your bank balance must take a real pounding :)

Just had a quick look at the old what car depreciation forecaster online. The 35i at 42k they estimate at 16K in four years time (a touch low as a 4 year figure but lets go with that). So roughly a 6.5K year depreciation. That's without any contribution, which when the Z4 was launched in 2009 there wasn't that much contribution, at least not from my stealers.

Looking at the 640d, 69K purchase they reckon will be 32K in four years time. Take off 15K tho, which leaves 54K and if it meets 32K in four years is a 5.5K per year depreciation. All helped by the initial 15K contribution.

Ta Maniac, I try and justify my habit by saying I don't spend money on smoking or on drinking nights out. Who am I kidding it's an addiction this car thing

However, real life reasons do come into it like change of commuting habits. Going from 20 miles a day to 75 will add to the fuel costs and depreciation. My cash allowance will cover some of it but I just couldn't pass up this offer of an uber derv.

My missus kinda expects it every September and has given up trying to talk me out of it now

I went to finalise the paperwork today and refrained from looking at her until Friday's handover. Be more special then, can't wait now.

Interestingly it seems the dealers aren't offering more on their pre built stock as I've just read a post elsewhere where the person has got £15k off on a build to order. So unless you want your car super quick it may pay to build your own!

Typical, now you tell me. Hehe. Joking aside I am really happy with my car and deal. It's got all but one option I really wanted (mfd, soon solved via mod) and one of three colours (white, red or blue) (had too many silver grey ones lately  ).

I get it within 5 days of handshake and the only difference is that it's pre built and the only missing standard equipment compared to latest builds is no DAB. Radio is over rated, hehe.

As you know now I am very impatient when cars are involved!

45 hrs to go :driving: :D :driving: :D
