On the track day at Donington, it was going off all over the place. I think I should set it a bit lower, I don't want another over 100mph ban!!!!!

On residential 30/40 I resolutely stick to the limits, as those are the mostly likely candidates for speed traps and the limits are generally there for a reason. 50 limits tend to be ex-deregulated roads and are sometimes a favourite for cameras, so I tend to take a similar approach if they are urban. On motorways and deregulated rural roads I tend to exceed the speed limit appropriate to the road conditions, traffic and likely police presence.
If you're concentrating on your driving, I don't see why you can easily ensure that you stick to the limits in the areas where the risk of problems is higher and ensure you exceed the limit appropriately elsewhere? Seems I am in the minority here?! :?
