How do M drivers do it?

I'm enjoying my Zed immensely but I can't seem to do the speed limit unless I'm behind another car. I need to consciously monitor the speed at all times to make sue I’m in a reasonable distance from the limit. If I had an M, I would not have a license for long. You must all use radar detectors, a plastic Jesus along with a little luck. With the 3.0 it wants to sing along at 80 without even breathing. I guess when I drive the car a little longer I’ll get used to it and perhaps this will change but I doubt it.

Cruise is also a handy way to keep slow.

I totally agree.. my best method is having another car which makes me realise how fast I'm going when I'm in the other one.

I set the computer to squark at me at 80 as my failsafe in case I totally forget in the spur of the moment. Doesn't mean I don't hear it squark a lot but I'm aware then.

Still mine's only a sprightly 3.0i :driving:

That must be a nav only option then - mine car stays silent.

TomTom's set to a 95mph warning though :D

Cruise is a great help :D

lol - neither have I :?

I have a //MR. Its very hard to drive slowly but cant lose my license as I'll lose my job, its job vs driving a few mph faster. I made my choice. Top down always helps as I seem to enjoy the drive looking at things. Of course take it on some quiet country lanes, no traffic, rip it and enjoy the ride. Dont have to go fast on motorway to enjoy it, Unfortunately speed camera detectors are useless on motorway cause by the time u slow down u r caught.

You won't had mine just over a year and its killing me not being able to really use it but there are so many cameras and plod around its a nightmare was happily cruising home one day last year when i got a mirror full of blue lights 3 points and £60 he got me at 98mph which in the 3.0 is nothing

I even used cruise control on a track day - just set it to 60mph for the cooling down laps(s) and then put it in 5th and didn't touch the brakes until I dabbed them on the entry to the pit lane.

i have to agreed in the 2.5 it just wants to pull no matter what gear your in, at 3k revs its like a switch and wants to go faster, i find with sport on stick it in 5th and if i just lean a little on the gas pedal its 40 - 50 mph.

Get the audible speed warning, mine sit's in the passenger seat and sqwark's every time I speed up a bit, you can program it to say different things from, your not in a race you know, to classic's such as who do you think you are Nigel Mansell,

Stick the 'M' in sport mode and it fair hurtles at the horizon, like playing Russian Roulette with your driving license. :D Great fun though

Speed limits...what are those? People obey them?

They don't in Vegas. Everyone is pretty much doing at least 10mph over.

I don't have this issue in my Ford Ranger.

In the UK (As you will see when you get here)

There are speed limits and then there are unspoken limits.

Most motorways travel between 80mph and 90mph in the fast lane ;)

If everyone is doing 90 what can they do.... ;)

yah i totally agree, takes a really big effort to keep the car under the speed limit ... i normally hammer the throttle to get up to whatever speed and then bring it back down to speed limit ... so i'm only going over the limit for a few seconds ... hopefully the cops are so anal to catch someone doing that when they are almost always going 30 km/h over the limit, even if they are in a residential area
