Thats truly scary. Glad you and your son are ok thats the main thing.
Did they smash their way in or did you open the door to them? and then they pull the gun?
I dont live a million miles away and its sort of got me concerned about people like that casing the area. I literally dont have any valuables though, but wouldnt want to explain that to a man with a gun.
Guess I'll just operate a dont open the door to anyone late at night policy...

You don't strike me as someone who'll let this get to him, but make sure you spend some time with friends and loved ones, don't let this get to you - the most important thing is that your son is safe and is none the wiser to what happened, may be best to keep it that way forever.
Keep your chin up, keep on at the police to do what they can, and rebuild.
Hope all works out with insurance too.

well back at moms now... all locks changed, the house is compltely trashed..... as per ali v6 i cant lie, i dont really want to do back without extensive work tomake me FEEL safe.......
the guy changed the locks said hes just been to a 70 year old woman round the corner, black and blue, they absolutely battered the crap out of her..... again for her car, also another neighbour had his bmw stolen last night as well, luckily he wasnt in.... a 335d btw!!!!
disgracefull how these guys beat up an old lady yet leave a big tall, heavy guy completely alone.....and i tried to give him hay maker.....

Sounds like something out of Gone in 60 seconds if they were targetting that many cars in one night, but sadly using violence rather than technology. They must of had a transporter parked up somewhere for all these cars.
Guess it's a lesson for us all, don''t sleep with your keys under you pillow, sounds like these guys will doing anything to steal a car. Poor old wifey. She'd of been better leaving the keys downstairs or at least somewhere the thief would of found them easily and not needed to waken her up. Why the need for violence, I'm sure she didn't fight back. Thugs!
