As soon as you said "we dont share rooms" i lost interest.... :P
You 'can' share a room, but the snoring/farting usually means you don't get any sleep.

Any fit women have to be shared around the group

...so they mostly don't bother coming

Beedub, thanks for the response! sorry for the long gap in reply, if i'm completely honest my computer crashed when I typed it and i didn't even realise it had left the post!!

Kit's on it's way! still apprehensive, but time to decide before I commit to installing! love the Zed and can see myself keeping it a while, so might just get in. very uncommon sight on the road here - I haven't seen a single other one!

It's going to take another 4 weeks + to arrive from the states, so still a while to decide (think you've sold it to me though ) Any problems in particular you encountered? does the standard exhaust restrict things in any way? The kit includes a K&N filter, are there any other options that might lessen the heat soak?

Another question, will the gruppe m fit with the charger? I found one for a decent price that I was going to grab but then realised it could be a waste!

biggest concern is that there arent many euro-tuners out here. found one that seems to be reputable but it's always a worry!

hi jaw... the kit comes with a intake that relocates the filter right into the kidney grill, its far more efficient than a gruppe M in terms of position and CAI, and no, stage 1 will give you no problems what so everfor the heat soak look into methanol/water injection, costs about 300 quid and will keep your power constant. Thats the problem with the s/c kits, by the time youve got them to your door, paid all the charges and got them installed.... its very expensive BUT.. if you keeping the car, well worth it as the upgrade path is quick and easy.....

your about to transform your z4m into a car you dont recognise. Be careful and have fun :-)

BTW.... im not sure what the Exhaust setup is like on the Aus Cars? is it usa spec or euro spec?? But to get the best from the car you want Euro spec exhaust. In an ideal world their'd be an FI exhaust option that would be a larger bore pipe with high-flow / removeable Cat section. a twin 3" system imo would liberate awesome gains.

mmm. woots trying to compensated driving skill with more POWER! see you in A+E soon...good thing i work in a major trauma centre

Nice one will look into the injection, see what the guys come up with. will post up a few pics and progress on here as things progress, going to look for some CSLs (they're rare as hen's teeth out here), and maybe have a play with the suspension and brakes.

So is the Euro spec a bigger bore? Didn't realise there was a difference so will have a look at that. at a guess I'd say it'd be euro spec but I'm basing that purely on the fact that the production run was limited and I'd heard rumours that they were UK derrived. Don't suppose you've any part numbers that I could ID it with?

The garage I'm getting to do the work specialises in Akropovic exhausts and the bloke I'm dealing with is going to go chat exhaust options with me, but there's something I love about the raspy top end of the stock exhaust so not too sure.

Ooo Another one, I've got a Weichers strut brace on at the moment - found it hard to tell from photos, but does the S/C take up much height in the bay? (did you say the engine would have to be raised up?) would be nice to be able to put the brace back in once it's done with

Not really, my ability to drive has nothing to do with wanting more power, I just happen to enjoy it..
He meant Woots, not you

@ JAWS

The euro spec exhaust has 2 Less cats and has the thinwall CSL headers, they are a lovely design and are imo not bettered by any of the after market solutions....... really lovely design..... Id like to try and get a custom V-band exhaust system made so i can swap between race cats and De-cat for MOT's ect ect..... a twin 3" system would be what i want but properly resonated to make it around 90db @ static circuit tests.... that would cost a small fortune however but imo worth it!!

you can fit the strutbrace but the positioning of the s/c intake must be perfect.....it needs to be nice and low, this will give you around 5-7mm clearance :-)

Aslo the engine isnt raised permanently... its lifted to install the s/c bracket bolts, i was pretty shocked when i saw this part happening.... infact i actually remember thinking " what on gods earth have i done".....lol....

Come over to the 'Ring with me next year, and I'll show you that you don't need more power, simply more 'commitment' :poke:
100% true...! Power is not everything...a good driver will do al whole lot more.

The driver lets my zed down :( must try harder and get better all zeds deserve a driver!!!

Ok , whats this monster like to drive , details please !!

its an absolute hoot to run around in!!! i LOVE it!!!

i use the car on sprint circuits ( alone on a small-ish techical circuit and timed) and its freaking awesome, my aim was to build a sprint vehicle but that was drive-able to and from the venue in relative comfort, i love the sprint scene as its just you on the circuit so you can keep the car in perfect condition ( as long as you dont crash) and its just you, the car and the track..... so no need to worry about other cars ect ect... its usually over 2-3 laps which again allows mechanical sympathy and proper cool downs for the car. My home circuit is curborough sprint course, ive done hundreds of laps in this car @ this venue.... its REALLY been a proper test bed for the car as every mod shows directly to a time on the sprint track. The power really gives the chassis alot to deal with, but the way the car copes with it and deploys it, is pretty nuts.... you'd have to see it to believe it but it completely copes and can use it... (on a warm dry day)

Mostly the car is completely reliable, returns around 23-24mpg on a long run (this drops to around 4-5mpg on track), if i had to do a trans continental thrash and had to do it fast, really fast..... i'd love to take the z4m and have every single confidence that it would be completely reliable :-) sadly my longest journey in the car is the 4.5hr round trip to the tuners that built the car :-) i do love that trip and relish the 6.am start :-)

i'd love to get another uk z4m s/c, sadly.... it seems im the only one thats going to do it :-( all monetry sense has been lost on my vehicle and i will continue to hone and build it until its a true one of a kind.

Ahhh stop it, I'm going to have a 2 month hard on until mine is fitted now!

I love the idea of it being a sprint car so I can keep her looking good as well as manhandle it every now and then! If the charger goes in then i'm keeping for a long time so will slam her on some bbs lms or csl's, uprate the brakes and put fully adjustables on. Havent had a chance to have a good drive since butting i the brace, should have an impulse bought afe waiting for me when I get home to keep me busy till the kit arrives.

Really can't wait, youve got me excited!! Can imagine its very tail happy with your setup, I love that you can tease big drifts out of it with ease as stock! Does it make it "too" twitchy or is it still well balanced?

Back home in the uk in december so might see what goodies I can pick up. Does angone know what a set of csls weigh? May try and ship some to myself over xmas, like I say the amount of 4ms in aus is apparantly in the hundreds and under so there really are hardly any parts!

A piccy i took the other day :)

pleeeeaaasee dont "slam" her..... find some proper coilovers and set the ride high as sensible as possible, suspension travel is key to a proper coilover working properly ;-)... ok with the stage one the car is sooo well balanced, you'll be able to JUST drive the car as hard before on the back road, you will have to be careful but the car really deals with it very well, remember their are no big gobs of Tq with this setup, just linear increasing power... it really does feel like its an engine swap, theirs no power lags, no dips or peaks in power, you'll love it..... the higher stages... things start to change but again, in the right conditions its completely manageable.. i deploy every last drop of power to the floor and the car soaks it up... i do ahve admittedly a very sorted car....

your brakes WILL need upgrading if you drive the car properly, suspension was something that i really saved till last partly due to my very low mileage car, in the end for the sprint stuff i was doing it was just way to soft for me so, i went into a very much track biased setup and i LOVE it!! sprinting is great as your car will look as new as the day you got it (as long as you dont crash, lol) the circuits are usually very techical and need lots of time to master, the fastest corner on my local is a blind left hander into a compression @ 75mph..... trust me... thats a scary one.... its called the follow through!! lol im taking this corner as quick as i dare, if i have passengers... they usually crap themselves!!! 1st n 2nd needs careful use but you can really put the power down nicely on a warm dry day.... By the end of my 2 lap timed sessions my front rotors are glowing..... i LOVE using the car properly and getting the temps warm ect ect.... The other aspect of ownership for me if the pampering side, which i love just as much, my car is probably as close in condition to a new car you could get.... its a great great ownership experience, and the most fun ive ever had in motoring terms... genuinely feel blessed to have been able to build such a machine....

on the flip side, remove the hardtop, blast down a country lane, boost gauge flickering, engine singing, blower whistling and popping away, the steering wheel alive in my hands, the car feeling taught and tight.... me, the car, warm evening sunshine.... i have not a care in the world.... no matter whats happening.

good luck with your experience,,, i hope its as awesome as mine has been.... i would not change one part of my path with it so far...

hi Beedub,

You mentioned heatsoak problems with the stage 1 kit.. is it the heat from the engine re entering into the system via air filter?
I'm curious if this can be sorted by getting Stage 2 setup with intercooler and running stage 1 map..

I think the VF kits look good 8) . If i was interested in supercharging i would probably wait for a few more guinee pigs to go through it before i spent my hard earned. Also a cheap way to get them into england would be nice :D Anyone know a shipping smuggler??

hi tombar.... heatsoak..... heatsoak is when the system, boost pipes, s/c unit itself have become heated and therefore the car feels slower, it doesnt hurt anything, it doesn cause any issues, it just makes the car feel slower.... you could run the stage 2 + intercooler setup But.....at the low boost the stage 1 uses you may loose power as the intercooler circuit will have a natural pressure loss...... a nice small intercooler would be great, but i think the stage 2 stuff would be too large for 4.5/5lbs of boost....

VF kit looks nice also.... try doing a search info Vf and blown motors ;-) plus they use water / air cooling which is inferior to a proper air / air setup..... also no oil coolers ect ect.... my fave kits are the Ess units... and the G-power with the ASA s/c unit.... the VF kits are imo an unknown quantity, i hope problems of past are solved ;-)

i had a run round in my z4 yesterday.... nice and sunny, dry, 1 deg C and... i can honestly say...... its brutal........ such an event to cruise around in. i wish it had this sub zero type performance all the time.... its ballistic.
