As above, finally booked the roadster in for a supercharging.. I'm a bit aprehensive if to go through with it though as I'll be getting a new toy sometime between jan and april (will keep the roadie regardless).

I'm not sure if a super charger would ruin the characteristics of the car at the moment as opposed t just 'adding' to them. Also worried that reliability and drivability might be effected.

IT's going in for a supercharger, remap and full exhaust system which will transform how she goes, with a predicted 440bhp - as much as the '92 m3 in a car that's a bit more nible and probably a good bit lighter.

Anyone here done it before? What can I expect? if I don't, it will be staying stock with perhaps just a gruppe M and used along side the weekend runabout.

any advice, info or opinions wecome  :O

Aye, ask Beedub. He's done it (plus a whole lot more) and will give you the low down. From what I know, he won't be talking you out of it!

hi JAw.... i have indeed done the journey your about to take on.... ive been through ALL the stages now, from the base right upto the stage 2+ adding all sorts of different things like meth/water injection and bla bla bla....

The s54 will easily take 10lbs of boost, forged internals, iron block, graphite lined pistons!! its germanys 2jz !!! Crazy power be screwed out of these reliably.... its a great great platform for boost...the purists however will lynch you!!!

right.. well prepare to see your car stripped to tiny pieces!!! lol... also the engine needs to be lifted... that bits scary... in terms of install the stage 1 is pretty ok... the other kits require some serious time, effort and general wishing you hadnt bothered!! lol (anything over stage one will not be sold to the general public, it must be done @ an ess location)

in terms of driving the car??? it WILL be just a reliable, drive wise it feels the same as stock, just more powerful, the tune is art, soooo smooooth.... linear power, right upto the redline.... so think of our stock power curve... it simply moves up the graph... theirs no sudden gobs of power. my only gripe with the stage 1 is it heat soaks and after a day of driving hard it feels alot slower, its only 4.5lbs of boost so dont worry about reliability, you will LOVE it......The supercharger noise sounds awesome laid over the top of the s54, the bypass valve pops and whistles away, you can still hear the s54's lovely induction note. The exhaust gets louder BTW, at higher revs it sounds very different??? not sure why???

if you drive the car properly you will fry the brakes quickly.... if your in a hot climate.... id recommend adding meth/water injection for the stage 1... it will gain you around 30-40WHEEL hp easily.....

i wish someone else in the UK would do this.... id love to go through it again and help someone along the road, sadly by time youve added import fee/s and installed.. its not the bargain you once thought :-(

throttle response is better than stock, driveability is defo better... Vanos timing has been changed dramatically to bolster the low down as the boost builds... (centrifugal s/c needs revs to make boost).

DO IT!!!!! if you can afford it, go right into stage 2 or at least get a meth/water injection kit, they only cost 300 quid and you'll be getting the power you want ALL the time, no matter how hot it is outside...

lastly, if theirs any weak spots on the car.... this will probably be the point it fails!!!! ( fuel pumps ect ect)

anythink specific i can help with???

Come over to the 'Ring with me next year, and I'll show you that you don't need more power, simply more 'commitment' :poke:

just dont feel there is enough torque...

The boosted intake produces a boosted exhaust, so at higher revs the exhaust must flow more gas than it does in OEM NA state at 8k revs.

Which race series do you drive in? :P

It's the preservation of speed around the corners which is the best way of making the car go faster over a given distance.

sod that, i just want POWWWEEEERRRR
i want to step on the pedal and just laugh my head off at how stupidly fast it builds speed
its a shame that in portsmouth there arent any decent roads....i need to head up north like i used to :(

byron, give me the mulah and i will join you on the quest for insane power...
i made the mistake of telling a guy at work about s'charger kits, he drifts gtr's...everytime i see him he tells me to s'charge it

100% true...! Power is not everything...a good driver will do al whole lot more.

Ye I do too. Like a sponge tho ready for the learning curve. Would love to join you guys on a jaunt into europe.

Just wish I had the mechanical mind of Exdos and Beedub.

Well, we usually do a trip in May and another in Sept/Oct, so I'll give you guys a couple of month's notice so that you can join us.

We don't stay anywhere fancy, but we don't share rooms - and they're all en-suite.

We normally get an early ferry/train on the Friday morning and get an early evening (6pm) ferry/train back on Monday.

We even had our names down for a closed/private session, but despite being willing to pay the €35000 price, and wishing to limit it to about 50-60 cars (i.e. £500-£600 a head - or equivalent to the price of about 35 laps), we didn't get anywhere as the few private days that were finally made available - after the manufacturers had taken all they wanted - were sold to their more regular customers (which was not unexpected).

As soon as you said "we dont share rooms" i lost interest.... :P
But yeah sounds good!! If im not deployed i may be able to come along...
