Nobody like the Eagles?

Yes one of my favourite bands, but I think to be classed as a great band they must be both innovative and successful, thinking The Beatles, The who, Pink Floyd, yes and that's why I would chose Radiohead over U2

If its not down to record sales and longevity, then it all boils down to personal taste...

Like I said in my original post, Nirvana gets my vote. They really broke the mould for me in terms of their music, attitude and clothes. I saw them live when I was 16, they sounded awful and countless fights kicked off, but it was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. Well that and a crazy Neds atomic Dustbin gig, where countless fire extinguishers were let off and a 20 foot long inflatable TV was hurled around the crowd.

So I will pull the poking stick out of your arse and fire up my bleach album

I recall a neds atomic dustbin gig that was more akin to a spot of football hooliganism...always good for a laugh, and pwei as well..

however, I take nirvana and raise it. pixies; my favourite band of all time and even cobain said smells like teen spirit was a rip off of the pixies. 25 years after buying Doolittle I still think they're hugely original sounding.

The Who

No one else comes close, sure others had better tunes, better musicians, were more influential etc etc. But for me no other band has the energy, emotion and sheer power of The Who.

Been with me since 1970 and hopefully for a while longer too

Rolling Stones.

whether you love or hate them you cant deny there record sales and 50 years no one can come close to that

I've always been a Stones fan but the DVD of the Hyde Park concert a couple of years ago really did it for me. Brilliant live performance, absolutely magical.

Sadly not, seen them a few times over the years in original and minus Moon formats. But I think minus Entwistle would be a little shallow. Notice they are using two guys to replace him! Still look and sound huge but something is missing.

Also living in the sticks getting to see bands isn't that easy especially in the big city or midweek!
