Grammar Police

I confess I'm guilty of this. I can't help it. It drives me nuts when incorrect words or grammar are used, it's just the way I am, have pity. We all have faults and I point it out (at times) in the hope of educating someone, not to be clever. Some people have incorrect grammar, and some can't help but point it out! So I'd like to say sorry to anyone I may have annoyed (or have yet to lol).

Maybe a little off topic, but professionally I apply two guiding principles...

To never knowingly waste time on time wasters, and to always strive to do good work with good people. Works for me :-)

Your legend states: "Z4 sDrive 35i DCT, she treats me bad, and I like it." Should that not read: "Z4 sDrive 35i DCT: she treats me badly, and I like it." ? I accept your apology in advance for driving ME nuts!

See, I post something to apologise and get targeted... Its better to say nothing at all sometimes. That sig quote is a play on words and you know it.

I was just being playful along the lines of what you'd written.

it would be better if people were ranked on how nice they are rather than how clever they are

My gran always used to say that it is nice to be important but more important to be nice.

TBH, I try and be helpful in these forums, I have a passion for my car, to help others and I'm a very active member. Perhaps I try to help too much or in the wrong ways at times, oh well, I'm not perfect either. I've been wondering for a while, certainly given some very distressing personal events of late like the loss of a family member, if I should leave the distraction of the forums behind. Perhaps its time I did.

:(
that doesn't make sense manic.

chat helps you avoid mulling things over excessively.

I hope things pick up for you.

The very fact that we can get aerated over something as silly as the definition of brown should at least provide a laugh. :)

Maniac, no one is having a go at you for anything you did on this forum mate - exdos was just having a friendly :poke:

It's be a great shame if you left over something like this, especially at a time like this with what you must be experiencing. Don't go, you're not allowed :crazydude:

As an aside, I think a couple of threads on here are becoming quite destructive, and IMO we should all leave well alone now. Confine them to the annals of forum history... And for that reason, I am out of here.

:topicclosed:

I have seen the same discussion go the same way several times on different forums.

It is wise not to :nahnah: :nahnah: take it too seriously.

best wishes to all.

PS. Maniac I would have PMed you to express my sympathy for the hard time you are going through but you are off system. Sure, take breather, go for a few long walks, but don't assume that people here don't care about you.

Okay I am an easy going kinda girl, fairly liberal but anybody text speaking on a forum or email should be taken outside and shown the error of their ways. We have a manager at work who signs off his emails, be it internally or externally with Tks :headbang:

Every time I get an email from him, I want to go round to his office and slap him hard. :D

Mine could never remember my name correctly, let alone impart any pearls of wisdom to me... :(

I'll go one beyond that. Anybody using text speak in a text message deserves a good slapping!

I can always manage to convey my message in 160 characters whilst being grammatically and syntactically correct, and without using any abbreviations or acronyms. Why can't everybody else do the same?!
