Got crushed yesterday morning not happy, cars in a bad state

OOh that's a nasty experience, glad you were OK but it was lucky it didn't rumble on over you :o

Just a thought about something I learnt through experience last week; if the other driver IS accepting responsibility and you are well backed up with witnesses and photo's etc consider using a claims management company and DON'T go through your insurance. I've got Integrity Claims Management dealing with my daughters car being written off last week. They make a snap decision on likely blame and once they take the case they won't charge for the hire car or service whatever the outcome. They had a hire car to us the same day, they already have written acceptance of liability from the guys insurance, had the car assessed and are wrangling for settlement figure all in 8 days! The win is that you don't pay any excess and it won't affect NCB. It has to be declared but our insurance co confirm there will be no loading as it's 100% non-liable and was dealt with elsewhere. We are also getting other costs, lost wages and personal injury. Recommended so far. Worth a shot if you are 100% water-tight,

I hope you get it sorted OK

Feel for you mate.

Just hope it doesn't become an 'uneconomical repair', as my 'light damage' to just the wing and door came to almost £2k at a BMW bodyshop.

It's why I try to never be on the inside of a truck, and it seems they ALWAYS cut the corners on roundabouts. He probably couldn't see you as you were so low

If the can't see a car, then they've got no chance of seeing motorbikes/cycles

Be careful with the highlighted bit, as mine said the same to me. But when push came to shove and they were heading to court for a decision - due to an argument about the reasonableness of a £2k repair bill and a £5k hire car bill - they told me that if my statement didn't tally with what they were claiming then they'd try to recover some of their losses from me.

It seems there's a clause in the contract that says I must act in the interests of the accident management company if it goes to court, otherwise their 'whatever the outcome' insurance won't cover me.

If they'd have lost, even with my 100% positive assistance, then I'd have been fine. But if they'd lost, or won less, and I'd been a hindrance, they said they 'could' chase me for the difference.

I stood my ground and told them that I'd agreed to the hire car cost (as I'd been told how expensive it was, but had little choice of car), but hadn't agreed to all the extras like £100 each way delivery, £50/day insurance matching (for 2nd driver, business use, European travel, etc.), £10/day excess mileage, 5 days extra rental as the bodyshop didn't have time to do my car and so just left it in the car park for a week when I could have been using it.

Good to be wary  Hence I emphasised the bit about being SURE of the other side accepting liability which we had from the outset including an admission to the Police. The guy was a lunatic driver but honest, a rare combo'

In my case, the 3rd party insurer also accepted liability (not immediately though, so gave up their chance to offer me a cheaper hire car), they just disputed the £5k extra on top of the repairs.

Thats a terrible sight... But least you are ok.

Looking at the damage depending how they assess it could be a write - which i hope not.

My door had a scratch which came to a £1200 repair. Yours has at least 3 panels and wheels/ aligntment... Which if it comes up to 60-75% value they could write it off.

Jesus Christ! Glad you're ok mate.

One of my pet hates is lorries and general morons not staying in their own lane. Most of the time it's pure laziness. I always see it at 2 or more lane roundabouts where idiots think that going straight across is the eay to do it.

Glad your ok, real shame about the car :(

have to agree with the above. I had 3 panels and 1 alloy replaced at the end of last year, door, side shirt rear quarter and a 108 alloy at a cost of over 5k by BMW.

Terrible to see a zed in that state but at least it kept you protected
Just hope it's not too much hassle to sort it out

Make sure you use the accident repair com pay tht BMW use, and that way you will get a decent car too....I used Accident Exchange who were superb....and if they work with your dealer, you can see if your dealer will do a bit extra for you, on anything which may need doing, as they get a lot of commission from the repair company....

By the way these companies will only offer you assistance once they have water tight insurance liability.....and your insurer then takes a back seat.

I had the other sides insurance company contact me and offer me a rental car would you believe.....I had a brand new 335D for 2'weeks, they resprayed my front bumper for free, have me an M Sport rear bumper upgrade and painted my bonnet for £200...

Ouch mate, nasty business. If it's squished both sides I'd be half expecting a writeoff on a car of that value, once labour and parts are factored in. Glad you are ok mate and fortunately these cars are plentiful at (currently) great prices, especially as the end of the silly season for ragtop prices is starting to die down.

I'm always wary of going up the inside (fnarr) of lorries on roundabouts, especially down here in Dorset where they like nothing better than a nearly-mini roundabout in the middle of a major a-road dual cabbageway, I normally drop back behind them but will definitely make sure to do so in the zed as it's so low compared to mummy mobiles.

As it's damaged already, why not take out your anger/frustration, if you feel any, on the already damaged panels? I did that once on a mate's shitty mondeo, had 3 doors out of 4 dented (along with the rest of the panels) but for some reason he got upset cos I put the 4th door in to match the others?

Rambled there, sorry.
