glass fell off my wing mirror!

I was watching my passenger mirror wobbling on the last run. Worried now! Perhaps I should pull it gently and see if it comes off rather than shopping for another later on... :(

I definetly would remove and re-stick!

Another drivers side wing mirror smashed here...

Browsing eBay for replacement and glue.

Thats my dilemma-do i try to pull them off (and risk cracking them)to reattach them,or leave them  :headbang:
I didn't even notice any wobbling Andy. Just got out the car, closed the door. SMASH..look of confusion and panic..turnaround to see my mirror in two pieces on the floor.

Give it a pull, see what happens. It's better than a smashed mirror.

Thanks guys you saved me a few £££

I took my newly acquired z4 fo ra blast down the mway and noticed my drivers mirror shaking like a good un, other side being solid as a rock.

Found this post last night, went to B&Q this morning for some glue and now it seems spot on, will take it for a proper driver tomorrow...

Thanks again

Hi I am New to this forum but have had the same issue with the glass failing on my Z4 I bought a new glass last year from Scotthall and I noticed it shaking whilst driving yesterday I pulled over and retrieved it before it fell and broke which is what has happened to me on two occasions previously.
I wrote to BMW UK and had a reply saying that they have not heard of this issue before and said that as my car is out of warranty they would not take responsibility for the cost. I have wrote back asking where I stand as the new mirror is only a year old and am awaiting their reply I also told them about the forum but they said complaints need to be made direct to them so I have attached their email and Telephone number below and ask that all Z4 owners who have had this problem contact them and let them know and if your car is under warranty they will insist that your dealer rectifies the issue.
The problem is the dealers fob you off and don’t let BMW know about it.

Many thanks,

Call or email BMW UK it's the only way we are going to get them to sit up and take this issue seriously. keep an eye on the other mirror!
Cheers.

I'm not sure about the AUC warranty, but "glass" is an explicit exclusion from BMW's Extended warranty.

Happened to me this weekend too. My fault as I've seen it wobbling for a few weeks and put off trying to fix it.

When people are saying contact adhesive is no more nails OK?

i used clear silicone on mine & 3 months on all's well  no more nails would do it but should you need to get it off the bond will be harder to break .

Mine has just been delivered and it has an adhesive pad on the back. It also has two metal prongs too that wasn't on the old one.

Anyone else's have these metal connectors?

I'm just thinking of bending them flat? What do you guys think?

Electric heater connections, you should have a connector going in that?
