Gas prices

I'm from there so I can :poke: Actually the last time I went home there was a thunderstorm for a good several days and on some of the roads it was only the jacked up trucks rolling around them.

Filled up for the fist time this spring on the weekend. Sunoco Ultra 94 was $1.219/litre so not bad actually.

You may not want to use Sunoco Ultra 94 - it has lots of Ethanol and Ethanol and BMW engines do not go well together. Use Shell V-Power in Canada. It is no Ethanol in it.

Thanks - I've never seen V-Power around here - do you have a specific station you use (preferrably towards Lambeth area)?

On the Ultra 94 - can you define "lots of"? Sunoco's site says "up to 10%" which is within BMW's guidelines.....

The Ultra 94 has 15% ethanol according to my understanding. I use the Shell station on Oxford and Hyde Park. Go here:
http://www.shell.ca/home/PlainPageServlet?FC=/ca-en/html/iwgen/shell_for_motorists/site_locator/app_station_locator_shared.html
enter your address and you will see the nearest shell stations - or you can use your Navigation system and look for Shell gas stations....

15%? - not according to this page...

"Up to 10% ethanol enhanced since 1996! Like our other Sunoco ethanol-enhanced gasolines, Ultra 94 sports Environment Canada’s EcoLogoM seal of approval. We’re proud to offer gasoline certified by EcoLogoM, Canada’s most widely recognized and respected environmental certification mark."

Rama, Shell V-Power has no ethanol. Ethanol is not good for engines, hoses etc. Ethanol also has less energy than regular gasoline. Ethanol absorbs water while water and gasoline do not mix - water is not good for engines. It is up to you. You want to use 10% ethanol then be my guest. If you want to use gasoline with no ethanol then Shell V-Power is your only option in Canada.

Sometimes in Louisiana the big trucks double as vehicles that can move around in flood zones :?

Ah, yeah. The area flooded once in about 20 or more years? Hhhmmm, maybe I should go buy a humvee just in case we get attacked on our own soil.

Dang, that's right. Not enough armor on those things. I'll die anyways. But atleast I'll be somewhat prepared for that once in a life time event.

Enfield, No need to get pissy. I understand the drawbacks of ethanol quite well thanks - if you took my posts to be anything but trying to understand where you got the idea Ultra 94 has more than "up to 10% ethanol" then you are mistaken. Relax. :)

Filled up with premium this AM, $3.85, Amelia Island, FL. Leaving on a 1500 mile road trip, ouch! Driving the Z PRICELESS :driving:

Deja Vu... I was only in high school but I remember the gas shortages (and fights) in the 70's here in the states. :( I certainly hope it doesn't happen again.

Up to $3.799 here now for Chevron 91 octane. Up 10c / gal in one week. :x
I'll be in Los Alamos New Mexico tomorrow, so we'll see how it is there.

On the subject of fuel prices, I have just been left reeling! :|

There is a year-in-industry student in our office from a university and he's from Iran. He just worked out that petrol in Iran at the moment is...

8 pence (UK) a litre!!! :o

They are rationed to 3 litres a day for private use. This is worked out on a monthly basis. Works on a card system.

Here in Hampton Roads, the best price for 93 octane I have found is $3.32.

On base, the price is $3.28.

Need to hook me up with base gas when I'm down in VA beach the next couple weeks.

Now the price is up the $3.50.

On a side note, my brother used to live in Lex Park and worked for McDonnell Douglas, now Boeing on the F-18 E/F project.

So why are you raising the price on me? :poke:
