Hey Guys,
as I promised a certain time a go to a couple of users here- I open my own thread in the M specific zone.
I am Max, 34 years old, running a little restaurant and hotel near Heidelberg Germany. 3 years a go a bought a stock Z4M roadster in imola red with 17k kilometers on it.
Since that day I am in love with my red bastard. 2 Bmw 7 series and one Mercedes CL have accompanied my Z4, the z4 is the only being still here
And as it comes with the time, espescially when you only live about a ten minute drive from Hockenheim Circuit, tuning and improving the car startet.
I will post you a little list what was done.
Fell free to ask to any modification.
Car is nearly perfect now as it is.
I love what you have done with your roadster…
I would never buy a red Z4M myself (it's to flash for me 8) ) , but I love to see them driving around and a red Z4M looks really cool.
It seems that you are also a fan of track driving and real drivers enthusiast. Why did you buy a roadster and not the more rigid, more stable, faster steering and slightly better driving (on track) coupe? I did the same thing; after a test drive I also bought a roadster and drive it a lot on the Nurburgring. But I was wondering why you bought a roadster and not the coupe?
These are the reasons for me why I a bought a Z4M roadster and not a Z4M coupe...
1) I like to be a little different (on most trackdays, I'm the only topless car).
2) When the sun is out; I love to drive with the roof down…it gives an extra dimension to the car. When driving with the top down the roadster is more fun for me then a coupe.
3) My Z4M is still a street car, that comes on a track (mostly Nurburgring) once a month and I enjoy a roadster more on the street then a coupe.
4) If I bought a Z4M coupe then I had a small unpractical sports car, if I bought the roadster then I also had a small unpractical sports car but with extra added value of also having a convertible.
I have modified my Z4M roadster in the same spirit as your car… I'm not going so extreme into fitting Recaro seats and CSL air box but I'm also optimizing my Z4M… Next on the list is a different suspension instead of the original dampers and Eibach springs. If you see a silver Z4M roadster with CSL wheels at the Nurburgring then there is a 90% chance it's me.

mods:
Programmed the M Track Mode from the M3 CSL on my Z4
So having a 2 step dsc (dsc off is still working)
- very nice on a wet race track or on a new race track
Is coming also on my Z4M.

Programmed flashing brake lights under hard braking
Is this useful or more safe?

KW V3 which was changed into a Competition including the strut bearing to run 3 degrees in the front
(my car was adjusted and finished by KW itself in Fichtenberg/Germany)
Why did you fit the KW competition and not a similar Bilstein? Because of the possibility to alter your camber more with the KW camber plates? -3.0 degrees camber in the front sounds like a lot… I'm probably going to fit a Bilstein PSS-10 (without camber plates). Do you know if you can fit CSL wheels with a KW competition, without fitting spacers?

AP Front Brakes Hawk dt60 on track, Ferodo DS2500 on road
Brembo rear Brakes (Porsche Boxster Calipers, standard bmw disc) Hawk ht 10 on track, textar on road
I have a full AP BBK front and rear.. I use Pagid RS-14 / RS 4-4 on the track and for street driving the standard AP racing APF-404 brake pad (sort of DS-2500 rebranded for AP). The APF-404 are almost silent on the AP discs. How are the DS-2500? Sometimes my APF-404 make a really small squealing noise, but nothing like the noise the Pagid pads make.
APF 404
Excellent high Performance Road and Track pad. Consistant performance, low wear, disc friendly, low noise, low dust, low fade, good feel. Consider where Ferodo DS2500, Pagid RS4-2, Pagid RS421 or Carbo- Tech XP10 are currently used.
Why did you fit AP on the front and a modified Brembo caliper from a Porsche on the back?

OZ Ultraleggera 19 “ with Michelin PSS 235/40/19 265/35/19
OZ Formula 19 “ with Michelin PSS 235/40/19 265/35/19
BMW CSL 19 “ with Michelin Cups 245/35/19 265/35/19
When driving on a track, do you think the difference is really big between the Michelin PSS and the Michelin Cup? I'm currently running the PSS on street and track and I was maybe considering the new Cup2 to use as street and track tyre…. I only have one set of summer wheels (19" CSL) and 1 set of 18" winter wheels.

All 19 “ wheels I run 235/40/19 fronts and 265/35/19- so not the standard csl dimensions but a bit higher tires. Much better to drive.
What is so much better about this set-up? Sounds like to high a tyre in my ears...
