Fuel..how high will it go?

But anyway I have heard talk that some gas stations over here are updating their pumps to add an extra digit to the price per gallon reading. In other words, the pumps can currently show $9.99 per gallon where the change would allow them to show $10.00 and up.

I seem to remember our pumps getting converted to sell it in litres before the price got a £1 a gallon!

And we thought that was expensive.

I can remember people saying that if it was ever £1.00 a gallon they would sell their car.

They also said at that time that if would never get to £1 a gallon as the pumps could not handle it !
The problem was solved at the time by changing per 1/2 gallon

Was talking to 'management' today and was thinking that as locally Diesel is 15p a litre more expensive than petrol we may be nearing the point where it's cheaper to run the Z4 than the 120d, even allowing for the disparity in mpg.

It’s rather galling to see the recent prices at the pump increasing again when crude oil is stabilising at around $110/barrel. It has been much higher recently. I’m in Spain at the moment where unleaded is around 2€/litre.

Of course the £/$ exchange rate is also a factor but this is improving recently so current pump prices seem a tad unfair to me.

I wonder how much of the 195% holds true? and what is todays perception of hardship? not having a TV? a car? sky TV?

I was listening to a lady being interviewed on the radio a while back about how she had been berating her energy supplier regarding her sky rocketing tarriff. The supplier agreed eventually to knock 25 quid off the monthly bill. She was then asked what she would do with the money saved and she replied it would go towards ordering a shiny new car  So was she really in hardship? Probably not in reality. She might not be able to afford to run it though :?

I always remember as a kid in the late 60s my grandparents in their rented terraced house, no hot water, central heating, they had a open coal fire, the toilet was in a brick shack at the bottom of the garden. No car and they lived downstairs in the winter. Their pensions was no doubt pitiful.

Expectations are and should be higher in today age, but then todays generation have in the main never experienced real hardships if the truth be known.

I would consider myself extremely lucky compared to my grandparents even if I fell in in the 124%

Tim.

I don't know what the zeds got on the latest NC500 run, but I averaged 45.7mpg over my whole 1300+ mile trip in the 320D - there's no way my Z4MC would have got even half of that (driving in the same manner of course) :P

Give me a break, it is Sunday

Petrol has shot up 7p here in the past two weeks. £177.9 for super at Tesco today. £85 for a tank is a new record for me. Still enjoying the MR though. Hardley drove it last year with lock down. Not wasting another year. :driving:

Ive just coughed up £1.83 for diesel at Tesco for the 335
Tesco used to be price competitive but not now.
I suspect they are cashing in on the situation.

I got a Shell message - something like “please come back and we will give you £4 off”

Esso are currently giving 7 x nectar points and on checking my App they are actually the cheapest for fuel with 5 miles of me.

Every little helps.
