Fuel economy

That is a very good point, if you are going to do high milage the M is not ideal. The 3.0l is a very good compromise, but mine is a weekend car and I run a Mini Cooper S through the week.

I do 20k a year!! Although I could probably afford 2 cars if I didn't have an ///M, but then that's no fun!!!

Pfft the dream of Gavin 2 cars, if only I could afford that!!

Must get higher paid job!!!

I refuse to take car finance too, so takes me time to save

I dont have a problem with finance only take it over 2 years and the interest isn't a lot so would rather have the car now, like I said life's too short ;). Plus if you pay the bills better credit history :thumbsup:

Here's what I recorded on my 'normal' 3 & 3/4 hour, 220 mile 'commute' from Central London to Liverpool this afternoon. 'Consump. 1' and 'Avg. speed' were reset when I left the petrol station in London, and the photo was taken as I parked the car at home in Liverpool. The average includes (of course) the motorway cruising and the 20mph driving around London! Didn't go above 20mpg until I'd hit the M4 as there were too many stop-starts at traffic lights & such.

It was showing 31.3mpg until about 20 miles from home, but I floored it a bit to overtake some dawdler in a 307 turbo-diesel doing 40mph in a single lane NSL - who then accelerated up to 60mph and attempted to tailgate me, obviously for having the audacity to overtake them - so I floored it a bit more and they disappeared :oops: .

I'd also assume it'd be better if I had reset it once I was out of suburban traffic, and if I could have avoided any jams.

Pretty damn good! :thumbsup:

Consump.1 = Average over about 20,000 miles, mostly A and B roads
Consump.2 = Average over one particular 30 mile commute having filled up and reset as i left home. It was foggy so i spent the entire 30 mile trip stuck in traffic doing 40mph in 6th and no chance to overtake due to visibility

28.5 mpg average over 600 miles, mainly motorway at an indicated 80 with a bit of town driving either end. Average speed was 63 mph on the way there, and 58.9 overall.
