I'd check that road tax as mines also £275? That figure you quoted is for an M3 or Z4M type engine emissions? :?

Definitely this. My old man had a 335i (on an 09 so LCI but still with the twin turbo) and it was band K, so your (potentially) will be too.
He also had death rattle on his and turbos replaced under warranty by BMW when car was about 2 years old.
Shame the twin turbo had problems as it was a pretty epic engine. I'd suggest looking for one that has had the work done already or a later single turbo car if this one falls through.
Also - if this one does fall through, a DCT car is far superior to the Steptronic. And I mean different planet superior...!
As long as you know the reg no you can get exact figures from the DVLA
If you go here https://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/app/enquiry and then click on 'Vehicle Enquiry' you can enter the reg plate and make of car and the DVLA will tell you when the tax disc runs out and the cost of the next one
For example , there's a pre-LCI Sep 2007 335i 4-door manual BMW AUC - Reg is YG57 BTV

Very true. Have considered it just reckon the gf would constantly be saying why didn't I get a 4 door every time I banged my head and swore!

If they call and tell you it's fixed and it turns out not to be you're still protected by the sale of goods act. Pre existing fault etc.
Get a BMW or Warranty Direct warranty and you'll be covered should it go pop later on.
If you like the car, go for it!
So what do we make of this response. Went into BMW today and they've decided to do the work themselves.

BMW Wont contribute to anything in terms of cost, we could pursue this so we made the decision to purchase the actuators for the turbo’s separately and do the work in house due to cost reasons.'

Looks rather like a decent indie has a car, problem identified and they're fixing it rather than a protracted problem later on. They don't want to pay a BMW dealer to do what they can do themselves.
