From Z4MC to 335i

When I replaced my daily driver it was a toss up between a 335 touring and a 330i touring (M sport) in the end I went for the 330i because of the nagging doubt of issues with the turbos and the cost of fixing them. Both of them were fun to drive though but be warned fuel consumption is awful compared to the Z4
Might be worth checking if the ABS controller has been swapped they are a common failing on these and eye watering expensive if you get a stealer to do the work. If not might be wise to grab the extended warranty

Will check the ABS so thanks for th heads up. Comes with 3 months Auto Protect Cover extendable to a further 12 months for £499. Would this make sense or BMW official extended warranty? Not sure what the difference would be other than price.
Hmmm, been reading all sorts of scare stories about the 335i.
Basically this problem is known as the 'death rattle' and requires either a total turbo replacement or refabricated titanium actuator arms via turbo specialist (after getting the damn things out). There is a software update but apparently that just open them up slightly and creates turbo lag.
It's going to be an interesting conversation today or tomorrow if they call me to say its all fixed! Thinking worse case here, but not sure where I'd stand with my deposit if they say they have but can't prove it. It's not fixable really other thank via turbo replacement.
Already preparing myself. If it all goes belly up then I'll be looking at the 330d or Alpina D3.

I have probably missed the point here, but if the problem has been identified and the dealer sorts to your satisfaction surely better the devil you know than the devil you don't? - after all could get a 330d, drive down the road, and the turbo could fail on that
I think my point is that I don't yet know how the dealer is going to react Dr.Nick. Only ever bought privately before so assuming they need to include some sort of proof and guarantee of work.
From the research I've done its new turbo time so I'm probably just venting and they'll call to say its not viable.
Don't think 330d has turbo btw. If it does then not seen anything around issues.

330d is turbo'd Ink$, 330 petrol isn't.
