FREE Air-Intake Mod: Full Details on Page 6 of this thread

I got 35-40% too.

It's not just flow rate though, the pressure drop is more than that seen across the air-filter, for example, it screws with the ram effect which you have worked so hard to improve :)

There will be several pressure differentials throughout the entire air-intake system, and the air passing through the MAF will always be travelling faster than it does, say, inside the air-intake plenum. When the air is travelling faster, it's also at lower pressure than it is in the plenum, which, acts as a pressure-recovery vessel so that air entering the cylinders through the throttles is as at high pressure as possible.

Have you used a flow bench to improve the MAF? If you've managed to improve the flow through the MAF it will be interesting to see if this reduces the pressure drop that occurs at WOT.

Yes I have bench tested it, and improved flow rate - and the static pressure on the engine side of the maf

Laminar flow is smoother too, according to my slightly heath-robinson dye/smoke test setup :-) so it improves maf accuracy

I look forward to trying it. It can only help.

I am immensely curious about the eureka mod - I thought you were not going to reveal it (and having looked at the induction system extensively myself I am wondering what i've missed!)

This is getting very interesting guys, I'm a pudding when it comes to all things mechanical so really like where your discussions are heading, I just need the final conclusion in layman's terms

I wasn't going to. All will be revealed to those who've sent me an email in June.

Fear not, I will post all the details of my mods when exdos reveals his mysterious eureka mod :-)
Why is your disclosure dependent upon my disclosing first? I've already disclosed my Eureka mod to someone a good while ago, so the mod has already been claimed by me and there's no chance of me nicking your ideas because, from what you say, we've gone in opposite directions.

This all sounds very interesting!

As we have yet to find out what these mods are... would it be possible to say if this would be a 'noticeable mod' to the insurance man if you stuff your car into a wall.... I'm assuming were not talking about a huge NACA duct on the bonnet! haha!

I've only got a 3.0 so can't help out at present, but would happily take some pics of the intake setup if required.....

My insurers are told of all my mods and they have "modified air-intake" and "modified exhaust" on record which covers a multitude of changes. They've not asked for any further explanation.

My insurers still have mine as having a modified intake too - after my abortive effort with the Simota - so no need to tell them anything else.

i'm not bothered about claiming my mods etc, anyone could work them out really, they arent that clever

But I had given up on ever knowing about yours, since you previously refused to tell me what it was :-) this was immensely frustrating because as I am sure you know, messing with this stuff is addictive! and I hate the idea that I have missed something

My mods are incredibly simple too, but only when you know what they involve. The hard bit is that you have to discover them with no assistance. Yes, it does become a bit obsessive.

why is this such a secret? do you want to sell the idea or something?

Do you think others should have an automatic right to someone else's knowledge? The title of this thread states: "FREE" so how am I selling this???? :poke:
