Found A Mistake In My Contract

I agree on some points about the 18i however I think it caters perfectly for someone like myself. I am assuming the majority of you guys are older so insurance isnt an issue but I just turned 24 and insurance on the 20i is so difficult to get. I got rejected from all the main companies and only some crappy internet companies offered insurance for around 2500 quid which is ridiculous.

If it wasnt for the 18i I wouldnt have been able to get a z4 (insurance is 1 grand). Also my z4 with £2300 of optional extras is costing me just over 26k, which I doubt I would be able to get on a 20i.

Having said all of that as soon as im 25 and insurance is more reasonable I will be getting rid of this and going for a much bigger engine.

It does take the piss a bit that they reduced the power for the 18i, removed a couple of options but you get no benefit in terms of economy and road tax...so agreed for the majority of people its a pointless option.

Times have changed, when I first started to drive it was a racy 1.2 Toyota Starlet followed by a 1.5 Mazda 323 GT and I had to build my insurance no claims up over the years until I could anything remotely quick. I guess kids of today want it all from the off, except they have to pay for it.

Tim.

Haha yea times have changed! To be fair I started off with a grande punto paying 2500 quid in my first year for insurance. I built up 3 years no claims then sold my car. Ive been patient and instead of getting a car in between the time I sold my Punto ive been using public transport.

I saved up my money and fortunately ive bagged myself a great job so its time to enjoy myself! 24 days until it arrives :)

Tim, I notice you have a z3, thats the car which made me fall in love with Bmw roadsters. I remember my dad getting one of the first z3s in 1996 around the time it featured in James Bond Golden eye. Brilliant car but it had a manual roof :headbang:

Get in touch with BMW Head Office Customer Relations, explain that you're unhappy and why, that the dealership have made the error, but are not being pro-active in reaching a resolution and this is making you consider walking away from the marque, not just that dealer. Explain that you have been more than accommodating in going to DLR as requested only to find that nothing has been done, no changes in the situation and feel that your time is being wasted and you do not feel that you are being valued as a customer, and ask them to look into this for you to see if this can be escalated.

In my (humble!) opinion, it can't do any harm, and is likely to move things along as Customer Relations will probably ask to speak to the Sales Manager at the very least, so it will start the escalations process at the dealer and prevent the individuals in sweeping it under the carpet.

If you don't want to go to Customer Relations, put something together in writing for the Sales Manager, cc in DP, outlining sequence of events and that you do not feel that a suitable resolution has been reached - do not ask for compensation, advise what you would consider as an acceptable outcome, detailing what you consider would be reasonable gesture of goodwill in order to fetch this matter to a close, but also put in the letter something along the lines of "can you please confirm that if we fail to reach a resolution that is acceptable to me, is XXXXX the correct email/telephone/address for BMW Customer Relations?"

Hope that this helps!

Umm I just posted the current offers, and it included 2.9%.

Not to upset anyone but I have dropped from 3.0 straight 6 to th 2.8 /2.0 turbo. (I had the 2.5 Si sport before not the 2.5i which is a detuned 2.5 SI)

so 2.8 M sport with metalic paint 19 inch rims 62 plate reg 22/1/2013 so is 4 months old m sport 26 miles on the clock £24,950. thats a massive discount for a new car from blue bell BMW winslow . + 425 inclusive service. Put that to them

There are great deals on pre reg z4s. I was close to buying a 20i from blue bell wilmslow until I found out about my insurance. There were pre reg 13 plate 18is for £23500 with delivery miles but they didnt qualify for the 2.9% deal.

Pre reg are bargains if you have cash. I compared the overall cost of buying a pre re on finance and a new on finance and the new was cheaper. Blue bell only offered me a £5800 contribution whereas williams stockport gave me a £7500 contribution.

Pre reg are the way forward becuase dealers are desperate to sell them. My mums 3 series would have cost £30,000 brand new with her spec. She got it for £20,000 even though it was listed for £22,290.

Jaz4 if you live around wilmslow im sure I'll see you about on the road!

Walk away - and see how far you get before they chase after you!

If by any chance they don't, you can't really expect their service departmemt to give good customer care either. In which case you will have had a lucky escape.

ut745 yeh you need to look at the whole picture, Im lucky not to need finance, but a work mate has just been in the same situation with a different car.
15K deposit new one at 29K interest free £253 per month for 5 years (dont ask) or pre reg 24K £235. I said get the new one as its not a lot of difference per month and get your choice of color but if he wants to pay off early like 12 months then pre reg is the way to go as it has the highest initial discount. Ideal would be to get the pre reg at zero interest lol.

Unfortunately Im in Derbyshire but will be popping back up to visit the lake looks really nice. I go where the offers are. Some people ask me if I look at others before I purchase, but there are not many zds knocking around and I look for a few months to see whats going on before one drops into my radar.

Heard absolutely nothing since Saturday, when told Monday afternoon, Tuesday morning at the latest. Livid to say the least. Anyway, rang earlier and just said to cancel it. They haven't seemed to have the wherewithal to pursue me, though.

Have now spoken to the sales manager. Also tried to persuade me to buy the 1.8, in fact suggested that I wait and view the car when it arrives and then talk about the figures. Not going to happen. They'll see what else is available of similar/better spec and get back to me. I'm not sure they guy was even aware of the issue. I'll see what's offered on existing cars or a reorder tomorrow.

Just had a thought. The 1.8 is a detuned 2.0 so the paperwork would list it as a 2.0, so I would say it was a input error on the sales rep, i.e picked the wrong one and the 2.0 would have been more expensive. (not at the moment with msport deals.

Yours would show
BMW Z4 sDrive18i Roadster 2.0i M Sports.

I remember driving a 118 but it was a 2.0.

oh and my 2.8 shows

BMW Z4 sDrive28i Roadster 2.0i M Sports.

Would have thought it would be 2.8T

Yes, that's right. Salesman admitted his mistake. The subtle difference is easily overlooked as the actual physical engine size is on a separate line. The car has already been built and is in transit.

Look, it;s their f**k up. They are going to try and persuade you to take it, otherwise they have a car they need to sell. I'd be dubious of viewing it when it arrives....I doubt there is a legal thing, but I wouldn't put it past them to try and do you over.

I'd ask for your deposit back whilst you decide what to do....at the moment it is earning them interest, and whilst they have it, they have a tie over you.

Otherwise I don't see why you can just re-order (with the correct spec) and get them to prioritise the build due to the cock up.

However, I am not in your position and appreciate it is different when you are in the situation.

I hope they do come up with the goods though.

I agree with Kev

looking at the bmw select 36 months 2.9%

1.8 £357 per month 4.1K deposit + dealer deposit 1.3K (wow)
2.0 £373 per month 4.4K deposit + dealer deposit 1.9K

Now the interesting bot
1.8 MSPORT £298 per month 4.7K deposit + Dealer depost 5.1K
2.0 MSPORT £322 per month 4.9 K deposit + dealer deposit 5.2K
2.8 MSPORT £364 per month 5.6 K deposit + dealer deposit 6.7K

So for a little more outlay you can slip into a 2.8 M sport for same price per month than the basic 1.8.

Thanks, it's completely their fault. There's no way I'll be suckered into buying something I don't want.

Good point Kev that I should just get my deposit back whilst thinking, hasn't considered that but makes more interest for me.

The whole thing is turning into a nightmare. Always thought buying a new car would be great, rapidly turning into the worst car buying experience of my life though.

Yeah, the deposit is your money and better off in your bank! I don't know if there is much interest to be earned, but at the very least it releases you from any tie with them, and will make them realise you are not just gonna sit around waiting, as you could just go elsewhere.

Its such a shame that things like this happen...as you say, it ruins the new car experience. And with a brand like BMW, where the name is meant to signify quality, it is even worse.

Once the error was spotted, and you told them you didn't want the 18i, then a new car should've been ordered at that point.

It seems to me that the dealers are happy to take our money....and therefore get their commission/profit etc, but when there is a problem, they don't want to know...unless its on warranty (cos they can claim that back).

If you still need a 2.0 (for insurance etc). Then for £500 more upfront, you get a £51 a month saving and the Msport package, because the dealer has forked out an additional £3300.... What are you waiting for? :poke: Cancel and re-order

It'll be worth it when you get your new car. I know its took the shine off (I know, believe me, I had to have another car) but when you get it, it'll be brill!
