Forum Glitches - Timing out

Looking at my developer network log the TTFB 'time to first byte' is where my delays are happening.
When the page is finally served it comes back pretty quick.

It seems the server is taking ages to process the request.

Any clues we can help with sp3ctre?

Its re assuring to see that the computer gurus are aware of the situation and willing to offer assistance

That's what I am seeing too... so far I've tried a dozen things but still stumped....

Any feedback from the hosting company or clues in the traffic logs. I'm always amazed how much z4-content I find via Google and wondered how often the site is spidered.

I don't think it is that to be honest... also, when I restart the database performance gets a whole lot better, so I think there may be a clue there. Just running some analytics to see if there is any tuning needed or anything amiss.

Jim, did you see my earlier post about notifications? Can you rule that one out?

Yeah I did, there are 200,000 records in there, nothing too bad. It's also set to a 30 day clearout.

It's very difficult to take sensible advice when it comes from a little bug eyed big eared monster. :poke:  sorry it just struck me as funny

Don’t feed me after midnight…….
On a side note, I ran a large phpbb forum for almost 20yrs, so have a bit of sympathy with Jim and the weird things that go on with forums.

Whatever that's been done - mine connection and refresh has speeded up - Thank you!

You're welcome, but word of warning... I am restarting things as I go, so that tends to speed up things for a while anyway, so there might be an element of seeming like things are better but we haven't actually got to the root cause yet.... I will figure it out, but thanks for the patience in the meantime.

Well that tempted fate ^ Super speed lasted a couple of minutes!
Did i notice a new cookie privacy notification recently? Could the site be scanning a table related to that function that needs indexing?

edit: actually if the performance drops off that quick its unlikely. Sorry just kicking ideas about in the hope we can trigger new thoughts.

Still not seeing any major glitches. I'm running Chrome on Windows10. Get the odd slow update, but no time outs or hang ups observed.
We had better all move to Cornwall then :D
Still on Dial up in in Devon then. :poke:
