Formula 1

You must have enjoyed Sunday's race then!

Wonderkid Max finished 6th, two Brits were on the podium and all 4 scored points. :D

Sunday's race wasn't quite as good as Max started on pole, but after leaving the track at the first corner trying to defend a position he had already lost he got a penalty that put him back into 2nd place, so it wasn't all bad!

I wonder if Lewis Hamilton is ruing his move to Ferrari? He finished behind the rookie Kimi Antonelli in the Mercedes he would have been driving if he hadn't moved.

There is a lot of talk on various F1 websites of Lewis being 'embarrassed' by his results so far.
I think this is unfair.
In modern F1 the margins are so small, it could easily be seen that he has lost his 'mojo'.
The Ferrari has been set up to suit LeClerc's driving style, not Lewis's. He is obviously struggling to adapt to the car (which wasn't built for him). Unless they re-configure the car to suit his style, he is going to have to adapt. This takes time for anyone, especially as he has driven a car for the past ten years that was designed around him.

Look at the Red Bull. That car has been designed around Verstappen, which is why no-one else can drive it. Knowing what a nasty piece of work he is, he probably made sure to tailor his driving style so no-one else could possibly drive the car.
There was an interview with Alex Albon recently, who confirmed that the Red Bull is very difficult to drive due to it being designed around dribbler.

Lewis Hamilton didn't get where he is by being a crap driver, especially as he probably is the ONLY driver in modern F1 who didn't have rich parents financing him from childhood.

Pondy I think you’re making excuses for Ham, you say the Ferrari is essential built for Leclerc, so what’s wrong with the Red bull being built around Verstappen..? Obviously they’re going to tailor a car to the best driver, be stupid not to. The screw up Ferrari seem to have made, which was obvious from the start, is they’re paying Mr me me me probably around 8times what they paid Sainz for him to drive the car slower, hmmmmm….sounds like Ferrari all over…. A driver with Ham’s experience ought to be able to adapt more than he has, Kimi Antonelli has jumped in a Merc and is barely a tenth or two off Russell in his first ever season. Red bull aren’t asking anyone to beat Verstappen, they just want a driver to get within a few of tenths of him. Ferrari had a great line up with Sainz regularly keeping within a tenth, or beating, Leclerc, I can’t for the life of me understand why they threw him out for an over the hill has been and filling his bank account to the extent they are. Absolute madness.

I don't understand the Hamilton move, either, TBH.
He wants to win his eighth championship so can retire happy (as we all know he should have won it before).
Fred is an old friend of Lewis's, but that shouldn't matter.

I don't see Lewis doing it for the money; he surely has enough!

As for Antonelli....that boy is a special talent IMO. He is just a child and can drive. Toto went all out to sign him...and Toto is no fool.

I just don't want to see Lewis do an Alonso....taking the money just for the sake of it.

Neither do I, but that's pretty much what happened to Vettel when he went to Ferrari!

Hamilton has his own crew of engineers so can tweek the car to suit his driving style. He has had months of practice before the first race and as one of the best drivers on the planet has no excuses. Ferrari have made a big mistake and I think Mercedes knew what they were doing

Merc must be laughing like drains, they’re paying a hotshot kid hamfisted’s yearly lunch money for him to drive their car faster than the old boy was, AND off loaded him to Ferrari for nowt…what’s not to like…? :driving:

Having said that it won’t last long like this, Antonellis stock will be rising faster than Horner’s sausage when his phone bleeps, this lad is a future multi world champ if he gets the car, Merc won’t let him go easily for anyone. Rumours say if Verstappen goes to Merc in 2026 it’s Russell that’ll get the axe, obvs just they’re the rumour mill but you can see it happening.

So our friend Verstappen really doesn't like losing (what a shock).

It's a shame he is such a petulant, spoiled, tantrum-filled, little fuckwit, as he is a very good driver. I wonder if he was taught by Mr Whinger Spice to be so obnoxious?

If he doesn't like something, he just crashes into other cars. What a top chap!

This is supposedly the pinnacle of motorsport. Those 20 drivers should be the best there is (in all respects). They are ALL paid more in a year than most of could hope to earn in a lifetime. But it's OK for Verstappen to go around sulking at 200 mph and trying to drive others out of the race.

He should be banned for life IMO, not given a few meaningless 'points' on his racing licence every time he has a tantrum.

Because he has lots of talent, they have turned a blind eye to his on track antics, on so many occasions that he believes he can get away with whatever he likes, one day it will cost someone dearly.

It also seems strange that absolutely no-one else can drive the RB, no matter who they are!
I do wonder if Verstappen has 'developed' his driving style and the car to make sure this is the case, so he has no competition from his team-mate (whoever it is this week). That then makes him look even better!

He is just a horrible little person IMO. And I don't even know him!

He’s no worse than Senna was, Schumacher, Vettel at times, Ham had him off at Silverstone which was properly dangerous, the greats all have their moments, it’s what puts them on that next finite level.

I am not arguing that top racing drivers are not very nice people (sort of goes with the territory of needing to feel they are the best IMO) in general.

But, apart from Schumacher who was a bit like Verstappen in the petulance dept, most don't feel the need to run into people purposely because they are sulking!

And Hammy didn't run into dribbler at Silverstone; it was the other way around. The footage proves it.

As said; it's a shame because he is a very very talented driver. But he is heading for a legacy of just being a c**t, like Prost.

It was a good race in Spain. The child did his childish stuff, as any child does when they don't get there own way. Hamy bimbled his way a little closer to retirement. Oh and The maclarens are quite good this year. :driving:

You could well be right, but it makes numpties of RB as they don't stand a chance in the constructors' championship.

It would appear that all the 'greats' in this sport punt other drivers of the track at various times. Hamilton and Verstappen (Silverstone 2021), Senna and Prost, Prost and Senna, Michael Schumacher and Damon Hill, Hamilton and Rosberg. It's a reaction (like a shirt pull in football) Shirt pull? What shirt pull?

I don't necessarily disagree, what I would say is that Senna, Schumacher and Lewis did it through absolute ruthlessness, in order to win a race, examples are Senna taking out Prost at the first corner of Suzuka to win the 1990 WDC and in 1994 Schumacher on Hill after his car was damaged to win his first WDC. Verstappen is just a petulant spoilt child, there was no win at stake he was just throwing out his dummy.
