There is a lot of talk on various F1 websites of Lewis being 'embarrassed' by his results so far.Mr Tidy said:I wonder if Lewis Hamilton is ruing his move to Ferrari? He finished behind the rookie Kimi Antonelli in the Mercedes he would have been driving if he hadn't moved.

I think this is unfair.
In modern F1 the margins are so small, it could easily be seen that he has lost his 'mojo'.
The Ferrari has been set up to suit LeClerc's driving style, not Lewis's. He is obviously struggling to adapt to the car (which wasn't built for him). Unless they re-configure the car to suit his style, he is going to have to adapt. This takes time for anyone, especially as he has driven a car for the past ten years that was designed around him.
Look at the Red Bull. That car has been designed around Verstappen, which is why no-one else can drive it. Knowing what a nasty piece of work he is, he probably made sure to tailor his driving style so no-one else could possibly drive the car.
There was an interview with Alex Albon recently, who confirmed that the Red Bull is very difficult to drive due to it being designed around dribbler.
Lewis Hamilton didn't get where he is by being a crap driver, especially as he probably is the ONLY driver in modern F1 who didn't have rich parents financing him from childhood.
I don't understand the Hamilton move, either, TBH.john-e89 said:Pondrew said:There is a lot of talk on various F1 websites of Lewis being 'embarrassed' by his results so far.Mr Tidy said:I wonder if Lewis Hamilton is ruing his move to Ferrari? Pondy I think you’re making excuses for Ham, you say the Ferrari is essential built for Leclerc, so what’s wrong with the Red bull being built around Verstappen..? Obviously they’re going to tailor a car to the best driver, be stupid not to. The screw up Ferrari seem to have made, which was obvious from the start, is they’re paying Mr me me me probably around 8times what they paid Sainz for him to drive the car slower, hmmmmm….sounds like Ferrari all over…. A driver with Ham’s experience ought to be able to adapt more than he has, Kimi Antonelli has jumped in a Merc and is barely a tenth or two off Russell in his first ever season. Red bull aren’t asking anyone to beat Verstappen, they just want a driver to get within a few of tenths of him. Ferrari had a great line up with Sainz regularly keeping within a tenth, or beating, Leclerc, I can’t for the life of me understand why they threw him out for an over the hill has been and filling his bank account to the extent they are. Absolute madness.

It also seems strange that absolutely no-one else can drive the RB, no matter who they are!sars said:Because he has lots of talent, they have turned a blind eye to his on track antics, on so many occasions that he believes he can get away with whatever he likes, one day it will cost someone dearly.
I am not arguing that top racing drivers are not very nice people (sort of goes with the territory of needing to feel they are the best IMO) in general.john-e89 said:He’s no worse than Senna was, Schumacher, Vettel at times, Ham had him off at Silverstone which was properly dangerous, the greats all have their moments, it’s what puts them on that next finite level.

I do wonder if Verstappen has 'developed' his driving style and the car to make sure this is the case, so he has no competition from his team-mate (whoever it is this week). That then makes him look even better!
It would appear that all the 'greats' in this sport punt other drivers of the track at various times. Hamilton and Verstappen (Silverstone 2021), Senna and Prost, Prost and Senna, Michael Schumacher and Damon Hill, Hamilton and Rosberg. It's a reaction (like a shirt pull in football) Shirt pull? What shirt pull?Pondrew said:But it's OK for Verstappen to go around sulking at 200 mph and trying to drive others out of the race.
I don't necessarily disagree, what I would say is that Senna, Schumacher and Lewis did it through absolute ruthlessness, in order to win a race, examples are Senna taking out Prost at the first corner of Suzuka to win the 1990 WDC and in 1994 Schumacher on Hill after his car was damaged to win his first WDC. Verstappen is just a petulant spoilt child, there was no win at stake he was just throwing out his dummy.BeeEmm said:It would appear that all the 'greats' in this sport punt other drivers of the track at various times.
