He may, or may not stay with Red Bull but he won't last that long in the Red Bull Formula 1 seat, he just hasn't got the talent.

I'm a bit surprised given his results this year - he isn't even 2nd in the standings any more. But I believe he does come with significant sponsorship!

And Red Bull obviously seem to prefer to have one star driver with a decent, but not spectacular, Number 2 much like Ferrari with Schumacher and Massa or Mercedes with Hamilton and Bottas.

For a spectator the McLaren approach is much more exciting with Norris and Piastri, or in years gone by Prost and Senna, Hamilton and Alonso.

Mercedes did the same for a while with Hamilton and Rosberg, and currently Hamilton and Russell but it can make life difficult for the teams.

It will be interesting to see if Perez gets to the end of will survive the 2026 season at Red Bull though!

Sponsorship and Max likes him, as he is a good 'number 2'. Red Bull is all about one driver...and it isn't Perez. Always been an 'also ran' but does have significant clout with Latino sponsors and is not overly ambitious, so is an excellent team player. IMHO

heck if i was an F1 driver i'd milk it for as long as possible - hes in the best car on the grid, as long as RB want him it'll be a lucrative deal for him. take the money, being a number 2 driver isnt so bad!

Wouldn't mind his wages and would tolerate being a also ran

Why? If your doing your best and not good enough to be number one. Then take every penny. Unless of course you could be number one doing something else. Which does happen occasionally I will give you.

Formula one has, supposedly, the best 20 drivers in the world.
Perez is among those 20 and driving the very best car, by quite a margin recently. If your mindset isn't to be the best, when you have the best car, then you shouldn't be driving in F1 IMO.

Mindset doesn't matter if you are not and never will be the best. He does his job he is employed to do as number two in the team and is well paid for it

So Carlos Sainz Jr has signed for Williams. I can't help thinking we won't be seeing him on a podium next year.

Was there an F1 race on Sunday then. I really have lost touch with it. I had no idea. Now the TT.

I am really excited for the start of this race. It's going to be one hell of a start.

If I counted right, one driver made more overtakes in the opening laps in Canada than there were in the entire Monaco F1. The highlights of the Monaco race were the adverts in the coverage.

Must try and watch the Canadian GP.

Ferrari looked good in practice and qualifying after their upgrades. It would be interesting to see if they can produce good enough speed and performance in today's race.

Had no idea it was on, but caught today's Spanish GP on Ch4. Best F1 racing I've seen in 3 years. :driving:

Yes, it was probably the best one this year!

Great to see 2 Brits on the podium and all 3 in the top 5 for the 2nd race running.
