Well, attempting to get this back on track...

Someone I know got caught doing over the Ton (110mph) and because it fell into a 'unique band' it couldn't be dealt with by the usual fixed penalty method, he had to wait for a Court Date. Due to the Courts being to busy and also Council budget restraints it took ages to come to Court.
Eventually 12 months passed and the opportunity to be taken to Court expired. He even got a letter from the Magistrates (or Police) saying that he could no longer be prosecuted for the offence !

The irony is that if doing 90 or so he would have got stung by the usual procedures but as it was in excess of 100mph, he actually got away with it...

You may be lucky yet....

Did said person lose their license during the time it took to process? Interesting scenario..

No he didnt. Until you go to court, I suppose you aren't proved guilty of anything...

Haven't taken the Z to the limit as yet but I did get a V6 Vectra up to an indicated 137, not on the public highway!!!

Germany is great, my first trip was in a 1.6 Fiat Stilo hire car, poor thing didn't know what was going on, warning lights aplenty

167 on my last run there, top down in the sun
That is impressive  best I have managed was 165 in the M3, went to 160 in my TVR but wasn't brave enough to push anymore as the bonnet was flapping around like mad & I didn't fancy it flying off!!

the current fleet is the RS6, S8, Cherokee, Fairlady Z, and ninja ZX12R

pics all over the place!

No sympathy here I'm afraid. Over 100mph on a public highway is inexcusable. I'll probably get slammed for saying this, but such is life.

Not from me, not big and not clever, we all do it occasionally but why broadcast.

Spoke to the lawyer that Cueball suggested today .....

first advice he gave was .... take anything the Polis said at the roadside with a pinch if salt, you have no idea what you will be charged with till the letter comes through the door .... could be 2 to 3 months .....

then he made the comment that my local court is well worse than glasgow apparently ..... :D

as it was a laser radar thing and not a pursuit, he doesn't see much point in trying to contest it .... not that Im contesting it anyway ..... his advice was .... if its just the speeding, plead guilty and take the heat ....

pretty much what I had planned on doing anyway :D

interesting stuff Ive dug up ..... fines on a motorway are more than twice that on a rural road and, now they gave something called RWI which links the fine to your income ..... and he said don't be surprised if it carries a ban

well fecked then lol ...... think Ill just have a beer and catch a DVD ....

You should go for a drive while you still can! Save the beer and DVDs for the summer since you'll have nothing else to do :P
Just a thought - why not take a Norwegian driving test during one of your work trips there. You might get away with using that to drive in the UK if you are banned.

Norway is not EU and that is the problem with insurance. It makes no difference on an EU license, but might make a difference if your license is from Norway (i.e. having to change it after a year to a UK one).

Very sobering m8 & slightly regretful that you admitted your speed.

I was always advised to say you were overtaking & paying 100% attention to the road, not the speedo. Reasoning for this (as advised by my retired Traffic officer in law) was that the Highway Code states when overtaking to do it as quickly as possible - it does not stipulate it has to be done within the speed limit. Not a foolproof argument, but a technicality to say the least

When I was stopped by the unmarked car mentioned earlier, I said I didn't know my speed as I wasn't looking at the speedo. I was told I was driving without due care and attention...!

I don't know if a UK ban includes not being able to drive on a foreign licence too. My only experience is through the mother of a girlfriend I had at at school. She never got a UK licence and drove on her NZ licence (but had to leave the UK every three to six months or so to do so). She had fifteen points (and therefore a ban) on her non-existent UK licence and just kept driving at whatever speed she liked and paid the fines. I suspect if you have got a UK licence with a ban that will override your right to drive on any foreign licence.
