finally fixed my cold start, rough idle problem.

Car would idle an cut out 3/4 times in the morning once the weather got 12c or bellow. Would run fine once a little warm. Checked the usual things, had icv cleaned, checked for air leaks, diagnostics showed no fault as to why.

Had the dme re-programed and updated to the latest software and that fixed it. Infact the car runs better than ever in every way. Definitely worth doing, only cost me £65.

No-worries...I'm not very technicaly minded when it comes to cars but the dme is the computer that controls the running of the engine etc...(I'm sure someone will explain it better for me).

Mine is a 2004 3.0. Manual.

I don't think it matters what engine you have updating the dme to the latest software will be beneficial to all models I'd imagine. It's kinda like re installing Windows on your pc with the latest version. And like all computers I'd imagine, they get little errors now and then. This makes it new again.

Apparently when the z4 first came out, all of them needed to be updated before they were sold due to some error??
