Ah the time came yesterday when I said farewell to my beautiful Z4 Roadster, Burt. 2.5l, 2004, ellipsoids, heated leather seats, chrome exhausts
It was bloody hard. The new owner came over after work. The money had been transferred into my account okay. I went to pick the new owner up at the train station. Before that, I contemplated scratching the car, taking the engine out, running away with it and eloping far far away. I really didn't want to say goodbye.
The car has been wonderful. Apart from one broken spring, a broken coil, and selfish idiots scratching it, one rear puncture (driving over a metal rod left in the road by another selfish person in Uxbridge whilst on the way to work). I was very grumpy last night.
I have such fond memories of drives, some horrible drives in the snow or lack of movement, meeting people on this Forum, learning new things about Z4s, silly stupid jokes on the Forum, and high-jacking someone elses Zed to go to Isle of Islay meet, Lake District meet. Taking the Burt to Surrey/Sussex and London meets.
*Big sigh. I miss it. However I don't miss the lowness of the car (I am too midget to see over the bonnet and must admit I had a 90s old cushion to sit on in the driver's seat) and being a bit scared sometimes about parking it. I still miss it though.
I want another in the future, maybe another same generation Roadster or the Coupe *with a can opener. Oh and I would like to come to more meets.
