Hello Mr Pritt!!

Just a thought, any idea roughly what time we will end up back at Calais, end of the week? Reason is that if we are there say late afternoon
its possible that we could get back across the channel instead of booking another night over in Calais, as i say its a thought :!:

Just checked the costing of both ferry and tunnel crossing and its......About £140 for the tunnel, and £90 for the ferry but that's from Dover.
I think the tunnel cross is about 30mins and the ferry 90mins.
I suggested the tunnel as i would be driving from South Wales and its a tad closer than Dover, otherwise I'm not bothered either way.

I was thinking about leaving at 10.00 each day. With 6 hours drive and let's say at least 2 hours breaks along the way (you decide for yourself), it will easily be 18.00 each day (more or less). On the last day it might be great if we could take some time to have a last drink and all, but really depends on the time you guys have. For me obviously it's a lot easier.

Thankfully never kerbed a wheel on the tunnel, even though the lane is narrow, and I have sometimes gone up onto the train kerb to avoid it, but it's all been fine.

OK understood. I have now booked for the Meurice for the Sunday night 3rd May. Just got to sort out the crossing over and back

How do lowered cars get on with ferries and or the tunnel??? Do I need to bring some planks? Or do I need to raise the car  :x
The tunnel is fine , they know better and always put low cars on the lower deck , I did get hung up on a Dunkirk ferry once , got on fine going but got stuck returning , sea must be a different level in France
Take the tunnel every time , nose to tail parking so no parking dents and very flexible on times , 2 hours either way is free if there's a space .

It might not be a bad idea to raise the car if you can though. We will be going through some small and exciting roads, but we cannot always guarantee the smoothest roads.

So in the meantime I have been in discussion with a friend who could make a sticker out of this or a PVC rally plate to put on the car.
It would be about €5 for a 400mm by 180mm sticker.

Would anyone be interested in these for the tour?? I know I am!
I personally prefer the plate as it remains a memory for later, a sticker would have to be removed at a certain point.
I can ask to make this as soon as we have at least 10 orders!

Hotel bookings most important to do first, there will be plenty of crossings to pick from i believe. Keep in touch
stark and i will meet you for the crossing if you want.

Hey guys, I was hoping for a little more interest in this road trip... With only 3 cars it will be a bit stupid :(
No-one else booking hotels in here? So far we are 3 Zeds...
