I think that in times where Russia, China and the US continue to expand their aggression and desires, we as the EU need to stick together. Only 102 years ago millions of us died in 2 World Wars. We should be stronger together as a European Union, not fragmented and weak. I'm rarely political online as you'll always alienate someone, but the benefits of being a united force outweigh the downsides in my opinion. Secondary to that are the benefits of cross-fertilisation of cultures. I think it's a wonderful thing to drive from Slovenia to the UK (with only the UK enforcing border patrols).

I think if more people in the UK spent time outside the UK, it would help form a more balanced opinion (all IMHO of course). I have noticed a trend of friends who are ex-pats or who have previously lived outside the UK, in favour of remaining in the EU. Those who rarely even leave their own towns/cities seem to be the most "pro exit". I asked a few what were their strong believes based on, it's mostly the result of scaremongering and ignorance.

^^^^^^^

The classic stereotype that anyone who dares to think the EU is a flawed method of forming an alliance is an isolationist 'little englander'.

Well said.

Just to remind everybody we are members of NATO, the purpose of which is to safeguard the freedom and security of its members through political and military means. Please do not confuse the purpose of the EU with that of NATO, it is the treaty of NATO that keeps peace within Europe.

It's preventing nationalist pricks from getting into power that keeps peace

Feel free to ask me any questions :)

What's the Greek and Italian view on Brexit?

First of all apologies for any spelling mistakes.

My personal opinion is that if the UK gets out of the EE, it will be the beginning of a breakdown for the union, something that will happen eventually I believe, as people will rise in the south at some point as most of our scientists flee to Europe and the USA and the remaining back see no future with the current politics so they will also ask for an Itaexit or a Grexit in order to start over.

Concerning the UK, there could be a referendum from Scotland asking to stay within the EE, many companies and trades will get from England based soil to the North where limitations would be less and thus England will lose some strength and debt will rise.

That's my humble opinion though and I am not a political analyst

Yes, I can see (hopefully!) the EU collapsing especially if the UK leaves because it is a major net contributor! And what do we get for that? Economic migrants from Romania, Latvia and Lithuania plus a Polish deli in every high street and Syrian asylum seekers that the French couldn't be bothered to deal with any more than their defence (?) of Paris in WWII!

Time to go.........

Oops, missed a bit!

If the UK (Approx. 60 Million residents) votes to leave and the Jocks (about 4 million residents) then vote to go independent and stay in the EU, will anyone really give a flying F*ck? Might give them some experience of being a tail wagged by the EU dog, rather than the UK scenario of the tail wagging the dog! Good luck with that concept!

1 example - I look at the horrendous flooding in Cumbria and Scotland and not 1 penny of support came into the UK from anywhere as far as I'm aware and yet we have families/business' etc....... simply torn apart, not by war or oppression I know but still for most involved, a life changing disaster that we've had to foot the bill for on our tod.
We`ve got some decent dikes and pumps in the Netherlands, do you want to borrow some of it ?

I think we should invade France - Ungrateful surrender monkeys !!!!!!

Payback time for the Battle of Hastings ?

If we exit it will be the beginning of the end of the EU (as we know it). The majority of members will have to be propped up by Germany and France. And how long will the German and French people put up with that?

People used to fight and die to protect the sovereignty of their nation. Now we give it all away to an undemocratic political elite who care for nothing except their own betterment.

I can't see one good reason to stay in.

Over the weekend out and about shopping and eating you come across lot's of European workers in restaurants, coffee shops and supermarkets, if we leave the EU what happens to all of these workers that have come to this fair isle to do the "living wage" jobs that our domestic workforce seem to shun.

Will they all be deported or have to obtain Tier 2 visas to stay?

Well according to David Cameron they will all contract Ebola and die a slow and painful death.

Im for staying in, if we leave could well be the end of Great Britain as the Scottish will want a second referendum and they will vote for independence from us to allow them to stay in Europe, will be a right mess
Would that be buy one get one free then?

What happened to Alex Salmond saying the Scottish Referedum "was a once in a generation, possibly once in a lifetime event"?!
At this rate they'll be having one every year till they get a yes! Then what, the no campaign pushing for a new vote every year till they get no!

It will be interesting if England votes to leave the EU but the Scots, Welsh and Northern Irish vote to stay. Will we then have England clamoring for a vote of their own to go it alone?

A short list of financial and industrial FUBARs from the EU...

Cadbury moved factory to Poland 2011 with EU grant.

Ford Transit moved to Turkey 2013 with EU grant.

Jaguar Land Rover has recently agreed to build a new plant in Slovakia with EU grant, owned by Tata, the same company who have trashed our steel works and emptied the workers’ pension funds.

Peugeot closed its Ryton (was Rootes Group) plant and moved production to Slovakia with EU grant.

British Army's new Ajax fighting vehicles to be built in SPAIN using SWEDISH steel at the request of the EU to support jobs in Spain with EU grant, rather than Wales.

Dyson gone to Malaysia, with an EU loan.

Crown Closures, Bournemouth (Was METAL BOX), gone to Poland with EU grant, once employed 1,200.

M&S manufacturing gone to far east with EU loan.

Hornby models gone. In fact all toys and models now gone from UK along with the patents all with EU grants.

Gillette gone to eastern Europe with EU grant.
Texas Instruments Greenock gone to Germany with EU grant.

Indesit at Bodelwyddan Wales gone with EU grant.

Sekisui Alveo said production at its Merthyr Tydfil Industrial Park foam plant will relocate production to Roermond in the Netherlands, with EU funding.

Hoover Merthyr factory moved out of UK to Czech Republic and the Far East by Italian company Candy with EU backing.

ICI integration into Holland’s AkzoNobel with EU bank loan and within days of the merger, several factories in the UK, were closed, eliminating 3,500 jobs.

Boots sold to Italians Stefano Pessina who have based their HQ in Switzerland to avoid tax to the tune of £80 million a year, using an EU loan for the purchase.

JDS Uniphase run by two Dutch men, bought up companies in the UK with £20 million in EU 'regeneration' grants, created a pollution nightmare and just closed it all down leaving 1,200 out of work and an environmental clean-up paid for by the UK tax-payer. They also raided the pension fund and drained it dry.

UK airports are owned by a Spanish company.

Scottish Power is owned by a Spanish company.

Most London buses are run by Spanish and German companies.

The Hinkley Point C nuclear power station to be built by French company EDF, part owned by the French government, using cheap Chinese steel that has catastrophically failed in other nuclear installations. Now EDF say the costs will be double or more and it will be very late even if it does come online.

Swindon was once our producer of rail locomotives and rolling stock. Not any more, it's Bombardier in Derby and due to their losses in the aviation market, that could see the end of the British railways manufacturing altogether even though Bombardier had EU grants to keep Derby going which they diverted to their loss-making aviation side in Canada.

39% of British invention patents have been passed to foreign companies, many of them in the EU.

The Mini cars that Cameron stood in front of as an example of British engineering, are built by BMW mostly in Holland and Austria. His campaign bus was made in Germany even though we have Plaxton, Optare, Bluebird, Dennis etc., in the UK.

The bicycle for the Greens was made in the far east, not by Raleigh UK but then they are probably going to move to the Netherlands too as they have said recently.

Anyone who thinks the EU is good for British industry or any other business simply hasn't paid attention to what has been systematically asset-stripped from the UK. Name me one major technology company still running in the UK.

We used to contract out to many, then the work just dried up as they were sold off to companies from France, Germany, Holland, Belgium, etc., and now we don't even teach electronic technology for technicians any more, due to EU regulations.

I haven't detailed our non-existent fishing industry the EU paid to destroy, nor the farmers being paid NOT to produce food they could sell for more than they get paid to do nothing, don't even go there.

I haven't mentioned what it costs us to be asset-stripped like this, nor have I mentioned immigration, nor the risk to our security if control of our armed forces is passed to Brussels or Germany.

Find something that's gone the other way, I've looked and I just can't.

Still want to stay? Well it must be some consolation that you have Cameron to negotiate in Europe on your behalf.

And of course, the real deal-breaker .... Democracy, transparency and independence. We can vote out our MPs - BUT the European Commission who dictate 55% of UK laws, which are legally binding, are ..... guess what, untouchable, unelected and hidden from view.

rest my case ...
