So yesterday morning on starting, the Z was poorly. Coughed and died once, coughed and died again. Deep breath, and third time lucky! :?

The error codes it has are P1017 and P1030. The best I can find on googling is a problem with either the valvetronic motor or the sensor.... has anyone else had this or similar?

It's a 2007 2.5i , N52 engine with 71k on it...

My 2007 2.5si developed a slight miss when accelerating through 3000rpm and then cleared,No warning lights but diagnostic reads 2A32 valvetronic eccentric shaft sensor reference,2A47/2A34/2A36.
My mechanic friend Dave popped out the sensor multi-plug and found oil was comeing up through the pins from the sensor. He dried it out, reset codes but they came back.Car still driving ok at moment but sensor getting changed next week.
Sensor£290/Rocker gasket£34.34 plus VAT.One big hole in this week pension!!!!!!

Good luck with that both!
I'm sure dave will manage to get u sorted reet cherry mate

Yesterday the z wouldn't rev past 2.5k when cold....the same error codes again. I'm thinking sensor or motor, but a phonecall to my indie this morning and it'll be booked in.... hopefully not going to be crazy money!

On friday the famous roof motor remover Dave replaced the valvetronic sensor in my 2007 2.5si.
When the old sensor was stripped the circuit board was found to be covered in a jelly like substance due to oil contamination.
The oil had penetrated and travelled up through the multi-plug connection which is apparently the first signs of a problem.
New sensor and gaskets fitted and the engine revs sweetly sweetly once again.

Looking good cherrym. Hopefully they'll find something similar!
It was also misfiring and not burning fuel properly on Saturday morning - a very poorly z indeed - so we're suspicious of HT leads/coils/plus too....

Has anyone ever heard a 6 cylinder z firing on 4? Ha!
