Eiback pro springs being installed (35iS + EDC)

Just to report I'm taking off the 10mm spacers tomorrow morning, causes rub and started to damage the rear tyres - with the springs and slightly wider wheels it's already wide enough.
What wheel specs?

What wheel specs?

0.5 inches wider (8.5/9.5) but the 10mm spacers make rear too wide, hits the tread on the inner plastic of the arch.

Rear offset?

Plenty wide enough Stuart, looks perfect as is.

Itching to hear what it's like with the mods to the rear, keep the updates coming.

Hi John, next is the camber adjustment arms and a cross brace for the engine bay. Not sure I want to fork out $400 for front camber plates although the camber being slightly off is affecting my OCD :(

My cool carbon pads have begun their journey and I have found a German supplier of braided hoses for £100.

Hopefully all these small mods will add up to a noticable difference. You'll have to let me know when you drive it :D

Is the camber off from factory specs with the new springs?

It was off with OEM springs, I didn't ask for a read out this time, but I'm due to go back Sat morning for a full final adjustment so I'll let you know the results. They said that a big bump in the road can cause it, but as it's not adjustable I can't do anything about it

Wasn't it asymmetric, towards minimum on the drivers side & towards to the maximum on the passenger side? Was the car measured with ballast in the drivers seat?

No ballast - would that make a difference?

It's going in tomorrow for a final shake down

Spacers are off, no more visible rubbing yet. Starting to settle now

Just ordered a set of springs based on your review.

Do you think I would have problems with rubbing with 10j (ET40) rear wheels?

Haven't purchased the wheels yet. Currently 9.5j rears but there's a strong possibility of fitting 513Ms to the car in the next year. I like the idea of 275 rear wheels!

Cool, let me know how you get on. Even OEM 255 on 9.5j gets a tiny bit of rub on the extreme bends. No way 275 will fit, you'd need to remove the inner arch liner or adapt it

Might just send them back since I'm already on 265 rears. Going to rub like a bitch!

Shame there isn't any eibach springs that are stock ride height!

EDIT: What offset are your rear wheels?

Well I've decided to give them a go.

Don't think they will rub as plenty of others with my wheel setup are running H&R springs in the states with no rubbing which are lower.

I've found some thicker spring pads on eBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-E30-E36-E46-Z3-Z4-E85-E86-E89-Spring-seat-10mm-Spring-spacers-HA-/151663069733?hash=item234fd2ca25:g:pAEAAOSwEeFVAF5c

If I do get some slight rubbing I can use them to gain a little more clearance.

Going to try a DIY install when they arrive. Should be a fun task.

According to the BBS application list they'll be 19x9.5 ET35. Also MPSS are generally oversized, comparing 245/30R18 MPSS on an J8.5 rim to RS3 265/35R16 on a J9 rim there was 5mm difference in side-wall width, it should have been more like 25mm! So stuartinzg may have been having scrubbing issues with a near 275 width tyre.

I'm on MPSS too, but 265 rear. Damn fat tyres! Probably why they are such a comfy tyre and why my speedo seems to be reading accurately as opposed to the standard 5% over read you get on most cars.

An extra 5mm ride height from the spring pads should prevent any issues as that means the total drop is only 5mm on the rear.

Having trouble finding fatter front spring pads though. Doesn't seem to be a thing.

Interesting, kind of defeats the point of a size chart...

Well my speedo seemed to be 2mph-3mph out at all road speeds with the stock tyres. Now I'm on RS3s I'm finding that the faster I go the more accurate the speedo

Tyre widths are typically far less important than are height given how much clearance car manufacturers leave for tyres For this reason performance tyres tend to be over-width, eco tyres tend to be under width. From what I saw yesterday the rolling radius is correct for the MPSS.

Talking of yesterday rear suspension tweaking & MPSS v's RS3 grip fall off with tyre pressure:
