So bit of a weird one..roof goes up and down on interior buttons..with or without engine running..

Using comfort access key fob you can lock the car / fold mirrors /close windows..you can unlock the car / mirrors..

You can release the boot.

But you can’t open or close the roof on the fob.

Salient points are

Gen 3 Mr 12 Volt MMI box fitted

ID4Motion digital cluster fitted

Only error is a long standing comfort access door handle error which has been there since I acquired the car and previously didn’t stop the roof opening or closing on the fob..

If you’re in the car and try and open / close on the fob you can hear relays clicking but no movement and a red light momentarily appears on the roof button..but after the first attempt the red light doesn’t re-appear.

Scanned the car and no other errors shown,,this is after 200 miles of driving so everything warm and battery fully charged.

Whilst twiddling over the winter power was repeatedly disconnected and reconnected many times.

Any ideas ?

Undo the battery for half an hour + then re-code it as a reboot given all the interruptions it’s had…? :?

All I can come up with….

Well tried the other key that I never use..that was completely flat..two new 2032 going in when I get home after the weekend run..

Sometimes you just need to start with the easy option to at least rule it out.

Quite so..having said that..in my car..the roof doesn't operate on the fob (new batteries) if the main battery is low..but does operate on the buttons.. :tumbleweed:

I am experiencing the same, but my fob eats a battery per week so clearly there is an issue with it. I am in the process of having it replaced so I'll be able to see what happens with the new fob,

Just founf this thread - Mine opens with the fob, but I can't close it with the fob. :(

Unless your car has comfort access which most e89s don’t have or have an after market unit then that’s standard..

For info..still have the issue of unable to open the roof on my fob but with comfort access I can stow the roof on the fob..weird..

Thanks Man. Makes sense. I am sure mine does not! No keyless entry!
