E89 road prescence

I would suggest you have lost a decent amount already john...
And throwing it in at this time when prices are dropping may not be the best idea purely on a financial basis..

Maybe in spring next year when prices get a bump maybe the time to jump? God knows what Porsche prices will be doing...
The 987.2 is a good thing, they're a bit sterile for me... Haven't had a chance to drive the new one yet, but on looks alone I wouldn't care if it drove like an cortina

I have to keep stopping myself speccing up a Cayman, already done it twice twice this month  and when lux gets his and starts posting pics it will make it worse :) The boggo Cayman in red with the larger alloys is just over 40K but a bit down on power over the M135i but it does look a lovely machine theres no doubt about that but the option costs are a tad eye watering compared to BMW :(

Aren't you tied into a lease deal?
What are the implications of a bail out especially moving brands ?

I'd say the window for trading in this year is closing quick but ialso think you're right to Bale now rather than later. You'll need to be quick.

If it ain't right for you it ain't right.

I'm switching to 435d xdrive as I'm just not using the Z enough.

No not on a lease deal, pcp which is transferable to anything. Yes I've already lost enough and would have to absorb the loss by paying more for a Porsche, for example, than you would normally pay for. You just have to shrug your shoulders and accept you've perhaps made a mistake on what you buy. It's why if I bail then I think it has to be soon as Jasey says.

I have to stress that I'm not un-happy with the zed, it's purely I'm not getting enough out of it for the cost of it.

What sort of discount did you manage to get on your 35iS ?

You can still get c £13k off a 35i M Sport - So if switching to a manual is you main thing this could work out a bit better for you - Can't see you getting much discount from the Porsche guys :(

I got 14k off the list spec price, and yes a 35i is high on the list. It would be a 2nd hand Boxster if I go that route. It'll hinge on a good long test drive.

Theres no real implications Ronk, if I went say to Porsche to trade in my M135i, they would value the car and if its in positive equity against the finance owing they would simply settle the finance with BMW and flog the BMW. If in negative equity then up to you if you want to make up the shortfall to clear the oustanding finance. No difference when I traded the Z4 half way through the PCP against the M135i, BMW valued the Z4 and it was enough to pay the PCP off for me to start a new one on the 1 Series. Its down to the car really and whether it hits its anticipated trade in value at a particular time, thats what you would hope :) or if its value takes a noze dive for whatever reason it becomes more of a pain as you need to find the extra cash to make up the shortfall. You can always get any shotfall included in the new finance agreement but obviously your monthly payment increases.

So it's more horse trading with any dealer you choose? I thought the car had to go back to Bmw .

I tend to hang onto cars for a while so have always bought them.
My horse trading comes at the end :)

Whichever way you choose, it's a chore.

Me too. I wonder how the residuals will be affected in the next few years. The 35iS is lower tax than the z4m so potentially easier to swallow for the weekend driver. It is also potentially the last of its generation of 2 seater BMWs which arent going to be 3 cylinder hybrids!

The prices of 964's and Z8/Z1s are mad. Look at old cosworths, lancias, e30 m3s etc...guess we will find out one day.

But look at the prices of the older boxsters and caymans, almost shed of the week territory.

Look after any car and it will be worth good money years down the line - I've just looked at a specialist car sales place here in the Netherlands and they have 1982 Citroen 2cv for €9,000 ie about £6500 - in 1982 they were about £2000 on the road. Brand new out of the box!

Only goes back to BMW if you don't wish to buy it, doesn't matter really who settles the finance so long as its cleared, although I think you can only settle the finance after a certain time into the PCP, unsure if its at the midway point, can't remember now lol.

Finance can be settled at any point even after a few days if it takes your fancy.

If your on a PCP and decide you just don't want that car anymore or you've been given a trade price of less than what's outstanding then yes you can just hand the car back but it can only be once 50% of the finance has been paid back. That might not be two years it may be longer depending on how much is still outstanding.

Bargain or just good value ? http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201508206222887?radius=1501&search-target=usedcars&sort=default&page=1&make=bmw&engine-size-cars=3l_to_3-9l&onesearchad=used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew&maximum-age=up_to_6_years_old&model=z4&postcode=bb120hr&channel=cars&logcode=p

You have to say it's a bit of a bargain...

Needs looking at I guess.... Gash wheels, don't do much for it... It's black so will have a peppered front end and white leather maybe a bit dirty and bolster worn..

Buy it at the right money, spend a grand and it could be tip top .. Then remap and exhaust mod it, proper manual road weapon..

There's just something about this that says no to me!
It appears to have just been washed and there's been no effort made to photograph it in a good location.
Perhaps it's just me.

That's how i like em  poor adverts generally leaves the seller with little interest & when someone comes along with cash to buy they flap & grab it :P
He even thinks its on 17s when they are actually split rim BBS 18s & very sought after
Agree with Gaz , get close to £13k , up the alloys to 19s , decent detail & remap = tasty motor :driving:

Poor adverts aplenty...

Specially on autotrader.. Nobody seems to bother..
He might not be an enthusiast and just wants rid for cheap money so has gone for " no nonsense" approach...

You need to Stand in front of it to decide if it's a mutt or peach I reckon..
