Only the 2.3 6cyl John on my original test drive, If I did consider another Zed it would have to be a 6cyl. I'm just not a fan of the N20 4cyl.

I took a 28i for a test drive when i was in the states earlier this year.

Thought it was a superb engine.

Ended up buying a 35i though ;)

Totally agree, you may have seen a few on your travels but these cars are rare and I feel they do stand out. On my trip to work today I spotted two Peugeot rzc's which I would consider rare (NOT SURE WHY) I'm lucky if I spot two Zd's in a month. I maybe in the minority but I think it looks superb with the roof down and drop it at every chance even for a couple of miles. I thought about an Audi TT but could not go with the soft top, pleased with my 3rd Z4. Here's to more sun up north :thumbsup: :thumbsup: :thumbsup:
 
I could have gone for a new z a 4 cylinder but after a run in a 23sdrive i was smitten by the six cylinder.....

a four just doesnt suit it
 
Hmmm starting to think the 35i is the one to go for, funding permitted, and spec it with adaptive suspension. 305 bhp is plenty IMO for the chassis, and you can have a manual box which, I hate to admit, I'm missing. Wondering wether to bail out now while it's still very low miles rather than wait another year and it drop in value even more.

Currently have a 3.0l E89 but a bit extra whoomph won't go amiss will it?
I'm unsure about colour tho.,?

I could always go Porsche - :D that would definately be a showroom search and test drive scenario.

Just noticed on the BMW site that the new Estoril Blue is not available on the 35i & 35is ??

Yes it's on my mind a lot Gaz, I'm not un-happy with the 35is as such, great sound on downshifts etc, but missing the manual change and I'm not getting the enjoyment I should for the outlay is the main factor. Seriously considering a 35i, M235i, or Boxster.

I think the M235i will take a dump when the M2 comes out... So I would watch what goes on next year with prices..

Being honest, if I had the choice of a new shape boxster or 35i then the BMW wouldn't win ...

What's the monies on the 3 choices?
 
Hand on heart I'll do well to avoid a Boxster, had a high mile 2004 3.2s a few years back, brilliant car, the looks can't compete with an E89 but you don't see it from the cockpit and they are simply the better car. It's a case of another box ticked and jump ship before I lose even more I think.
 
I don't like the 986 and 987 really... Accomplished but boring..

The new boxster and Cayman are lovely though.... I was looking at a bright red one in the week that was parked up, proper nice car..
 
Yep ideally a 981 but I'm already stretched on the zed so it would probably have to be a 987, tbh I don't mind them, excellent handling and direct sharp steering.

You haven't had the car very long, it can take time to bond. I've driven my car 4000 miles and only now really starting to understand it fully.
Give it time and you will enjoy the car more - use the adaptive suspension, manual shift mode, etc - don't just stick it in D on normal :driving:

The Boxster is common, boring, suffers from various serious engine design faults (RMS/IMS to name two - and it's much more common than you might think). It might be a bit quicker around the corners, but as a longer term proposition the Z4 wins out and that's why you bought one. :thumbsup:

I do have it in manual all the time, never use auto, and that's the issue, it's now a weekend car so I'm missing a proper manual shift. Have thought of changing to non run flats also to get the most out of it but not until I've tried a newer porker than my old one, then if I come away from that thinking there's no contest then it's a done deal. I take your points on not having had it long etc and would happily keep it another year, but I don't want to lose even more on it so if I change it'll have to be soon.
