Pre-emptively changing the water pump for the first time next week as it's showing signs that it might be on the way out (but still drives fine). Not a particularly expensive job, in the grand scheme of car maintenance.
Good luck in the work, decent midrange DIY -- If you are going through the effort for the pump, it's a no-brainer to change other nearby failure points, the thermostat and Mickey Mouse flange (11537541992) as well. Important not to reuse the aluminium bolts for the pump or flange. If you're not planning on replacing all of the rubber coolant hoses as I did, at the least replace the 'U' shaped hose (11537545665). It suffers heat from the turbos and can be a failure point. No reason to connect your new pump and therm together with an old hose prone to failure.
