2016 will have the latest fuel injectors so that should be one less thing to worry about
 
Yeh - there are some people who have had issues, but don't let that dissuade you if you find a good one.

This engine design has been in many many thousands of different BMWs, and as with all engines, some have had issues. But it's a small percentage.

My personal experience of owning 2x 35is models is they have both been flawless engine wise.

You can always get a warranty if you are worried - all the negatives mentioned here in the past made me think it would be a disaster to run one of these cars without BMW backup. But in 5 years of ownership (spread over 2 vehicles) not had cause to use the warranty.
 
Is it the blue one in Kettering?

Looks decent - ticks most of the boxes. Has cruise / the nice 19in wheels / heated seats / parking beepers / idrive.
No heated steering wheel though! It has wood trim which is a personal decision if you like that or not. Not sure if has adaptive dampers.

Just be aware that the WBAC is about tuppence on these at the moment - if that matters.

£20k would be about what I would have expected from a dealer sale 18 months ago for a car in this spec & condition (which looks great BTW) - but more recently these have plummeted like everything else.

£15-£16k tops - especially as it's a private seller.
 
As stated a late low mileage one should be ok for a while before the usual items show wear and tear

Probably still worth looking at a warranty cause when they fo go wrong and you are not a DIY guru the bills can be big

Very interesting and great advice. Yes this is the car, as you say , not keen on the wood but l could over look it. Price information is useful, I was thinking nearer £17k but I'm not very clued up on prices so your assessment is helpful. What does WBAC mean? Sorry :oops:

Good luck in the work, decent midrange DIY -- If you are going through the effort for the pump, it's a no-brainer to change other nearby failure points, the thermostat and Mickey Mouse flange (11537541992) as well. Important not to reuse the aluminium bolts for the pump or flange. If you're not planning on replacing all of the rubber coolant hoses as I did, at the least replace the 'U' shaped hose (11537545665). It suffers heat from the turbos and can be a failure point. No reason to connect your new pump and therm together with an old hose prone to failure.

Thanks, appreciate it. I did look at your guide, which was great, but it's definitely one for someone else to do. Getting the thermostat, aux belt and oil filter gasket changed at the same time.
 
That's a good plan -- I do recommend approaching the other two things I mentioned: (U hose, Flange) they are simple to do when its torn down that much and aren't pricy unless you require BMW parts.
