E89 20i - Hill Assist

Yeah,

Bobby Robson is an inspiration to me as a person. He was a true gentleman in his life time. If I can achieve even a fraction of what he done then I will be happy.

My most inspirational bit came when he admitted that he had his tough times however then says but you do you have the tenacity to get over the tough times cause if you don't well you have failed anyway!

Great man!

I hate football. If my Z4 rolled back into a footballers car (or preferably his legs) due to no hill start assist, then I would be happy without the feature!

Don't say a word against Bobby Robson, Kevin.

The man was a pure gentleman. He set up the foundation even when he was on his death bed he was still doing work for the charity. He went to a football match in his honour a few days before he died. It was said be wasn't well enough to go and could barely see the match but went to say good bye to the fans.

A very sad loss not just to football to the world. If some people had half the class of the man then this world would be a much better place!

I'm not dissing him, just Football as a whole...and even then, its not the game, its the bullshit that goes with it (the oscar level fake injury acting on pitch, the football hooliganism that plights the game in some areas, the hyper over "patrionism" that some people show, the fact this country thinks football is the only sport in the world).... Oh, and lets not forget the ridiculous pay they get....NO ONE is worth the kind of money that they can demand.

As for individuals, I cant diss him, cos I know nothing about him...but thats because I dont like football, so never really would've paid any attention.

Off course I would.....but yes, I'd still take it.

Who wouldn't? But that doesn't mean that level of salary is worth it?

I have to say I think its pretty unfair of BMW throwing hundreds of £££s at owners who have a good whinge at their dealer for a mistake in a brochure. They should either compensate all owners who ordered at the time the brochures were produced or not at all.

Perhaps I should have a good whinge at my dealer :poke: but then it doesn't bother me at all not having Hill Assist, probably as it doesn't affect the driveability of the car :driving:

Tim.

This is my take on it, I dont feel right complaining as I personally havent got an issue with it - however, as I've said before, if there is compensation being paid, then I want some! Hopefully getting my car back today - they've had it since last thursday to try (for the 4th time) to fix my leak. If it leaks again I will be kicking off, and probably bring the hill start issue into play as extra leverage when I demand a replacement vehicle as they cant fix this one....

How do you define worth it, surely its a business and any business will pay whats considered the going rate for what it considers the best people available. Are doctors worth more yes, are nurses worth more yes, policemen, fireman etc yes but sadly the business here which is GB plc cant afford it. Mercenaries they may be but would we all not be given the chance ?.

I agree the going rate for top footballers is the level they are paid because thats what they get...so if one club didn't pay it, the other club would poach that player, but who the hell is worth £100k a week???

I thought this thread was about hill assist? Did Bobby Robson need assisting up hills? :poke:

BUT No Hill Assist.

I've had a Z4 on order for 3 months or so. Looks like I'll finally be getting my hands on it next week which is great news.

I was on to BMW central about the hill start issue and got offered the standard opening shot of £350. They wouldn't budge up from this and referred me back to the dealer (I went to BMW before the dealer).

I've been briefing the dealer on the issue lately. He'd never heard of any problems and was still under the impression the 20i Ms had the feature. Their hard copy brochures now detail that its on the 35s only but the dealership's online link to the brochure still details it being on the 20s. It seems BMW have just sent out new brochures and not bothered letting the dealers know there have been issues here.

He was arranging for me to have a demo over the weekend but they're quite hard to get a hold of supposedly. Had one arranged, it got sold. Had another arranged, it got sold too. I ended up with a 2009 28i which he'd borrowed from a friend. Which of course has hill assist! But it was definitely better than nothing and I'm thankful for that. So I took that out for a bit on a hill just to see what I would be missing. It's a really convenient feature that would be great to have and I don't think £350 is really a sensible number to be considered adequate compensation.

I don't want to be rejecting the car pre-registration as I'm sure they'd gladly take it back in and probably get it sold for more than they'll get from me as I'm on the Jan - March finance deal but I do think there's a legitimate claim here for breach of warranty as the car isn't as described and I'll be pushing for more than the £350. But I've never been in one without hill assist so who knows if its something I can live with.

I'm a solicitor so perfectly happy to negotiate the position with them without prejudice and reserve all courses of action.

I don't think any of the above is adding a great deal new to the thread but I'll keep you updated!
