E89 20i - Hill Assist

Weeks after I asked, Our dealer just confirmed that Hill Assist is now standard only on the six Cylinder models.

I'm waiting to hear back on what they can offer us. We might be in a different position than Gsm since we haven't collected the car yet.

My dealer also confirmed this and is not installed on my 20i. Gradually getting used to the eBrake.

So let me get this straight,

the 2.0i doesnt come with hill assist despite it being on the Website and Brochure?!

Keith,

see page 5 of this post and as you can see it only comes with 35 engines.

the website is wrong and misguiding :!:

Hmm you are correct. Just checked the brochure PDF downloaded whe I ordered the car and it does clearly state hill start assist... :headbang:

the problem is us as buyers are too soft, if it is advertised in black & white and you have been told the car comes with it (my dealer knew what he was talking about and informed me that the 20i doesn't have hill start assist), you should complain and demand some sort of compensation as the car is not as advertised. it's not the end of the world but if it upsets you (as a buyer) this much, definitely complain!

Yes. The Z4 sDrive20i does not have hill assist. The sDrive28i doesn't have it either. The sDrive20i and sDrive28i are not as advertised.

The Brochure I can understand its been printed and done however the website can be changed in 5 minutes and its still on there!

When I picked the car up on Saturday the Sales Manager could not believe that the website still had not been changed.
I'm also surprised that it has taken 3 weeks for this topic to pick up speed.

So far, I think the two of us are the only ones asking dealers to do something.

navid.v knows about the problem but decided to accept the car as-is. Everyone else either doesn't have a 4-cylinder Z or isn't bothered enough to take up the issue with their dealer.

I asked my dealer Andrew and they told me to refer to the Brochure which does have it listed!

I went through that too. Be persistent, but polite.

Ask them to confirm that it is working on your car before you collect it. I'd use email so you have a written record.

I will be waiting until I take delivery of the car and then hitting them with it as I feel that saying something beforehand lessens your chances of getting something out of them as you could simply cancel your order if you aren't happy!

Andrew who is your supplying dealer ?

Halliwell Jones in Chester -- So far they have been fine. Just took a little persistance to get them to start emailing BMW UK. The problems have been with BMW.

=======

The dealerships are independent businesses. They have a contract with BMW but are not owned or run by BMW.

Well except maybe for Park Lane in London. BMW may own that one. BMW does own BMW of Manhattan in NYC.

When you say fine what are they doing for you you may PM me if prefer to keep private, my supplying dealer is Halliwell Jones Warrington I have just taken up the matter with them. Thanks in advance Steve

disagree a bit with this as then you are stuck with the car! but if you complain in the meantime, they might offer you something else as a way of compensation but when the car is ready for your collection, there is usually no buyer that decides to walk away.

I cancelled my order after the test drive as didn't think will be happy with 20i engine, which is a shame as the car looks gorgeous but needs more power and more rumble IMO. I haven't had hill assist on any of my cars and not bothered about it, but if you guys really want it, I am amazed that as Andrew said only 2 people have only mentioned it. if the dealer says it is there, tell him/her to put it in writing because they can deny all knowledge of verbal conversation.

So far they haven't done anything except finally acknowledge the car doesn't have hill start assist. That took a couple of emails. I don't think they initially believed it either.

I'm waiting to hear back from them. I'll post an update when I do.

See your point Navid.. I will consider my options and might say something beforehand.

I know what youre saying about the power but Im buying it knowing that it is a downgrade in power but all the other plus points outweigh it for me. Besides there will be a remap out for it in no time im sure. Infact I think i remember reading over on E89 post somewhere talk of a map taking it to circa 240 bhp. Turbo engines are very tuneable, well more so than my old N52 anyhow

Although I suppose with your M54 you always have the supercharger option.

Right then, got a call back from my dealer and they reckon it SHOULD have it. They are going to test their demonstrator tomorrow and get back to me. Will let you know when I hear more.
