E89 20i - Hill Assist

Does anyone else wonder if BMW left anything else off the sDrive20i and 28i? Things like ASC and EBD are listed as standard, but they aren't easy to test.

Picked up the new car today,
Very happy with the new 8sp auto.
will get some photo's up soon, it's far better than I thought it would be

Congratulations

Does the new one have hill assist?

So they gave you a new car, differently specced because there's actually no hill assist after all? God I might buy one, complain and get a new 35i :) hahaha

No hill assist on the auto and thankfully no start/stop either.
It feels like a much more refined match, 8sp auto with the 20i.
To be honest I wouldn't actually say that I complained, I just pointed out that the car should have it and they made me a few different offers.
This was the best offer on the table.

Guy's many thanks for all the replies, I had hill assist on my E91 which was traded against the Z4 so I do know how it works.
I live on a very steep hill and parking without it is a real pain. I have to keep the handbrake on to the point of the warning light/bleep before I can drive off.
The situation today is that 2 dealers have now told me it is not fitted to this Z4 and only 35i has it fitted ( auto's are different) they admit that it's a complete balls up as it's stated as standard on their website.
It' being referred to Germany for advice on retrofit.
Things other than the 35i have it my manual 30i msport has it and it works.
Unless its one of the ways bwm use to distinguish the 4 cylinder models. Silly and mean I know but they have always done stuff like this.

Thats fine, but why specifically advertise the 2 litre as having it?

GSM - what where the other offers on the table?

Handbooks that covering all engine options and trim levels could be part of the problem and some numpty translating the specs plus handbook into english the rest of the problem.

All bumph does state that the specs can change with out any notice. not sticking up for them as its only an extra computer program that they could upload to anything that will accept it.

Weeks after I asked, Our dealer just confirmed that Hill Assist is now standard only on the six Cylinder models.

I'm waiting to hear back on what they can offer us. We might be in a different position than Gsm since we haven't collected the car yet.

They are perfectly entitled to use their Disclaimer Clause, my dealer pushed for BMW to resolve the issue.

4 cylinder Z4s sold in the German market do not have hill start assist.

Around 22 February I asked both BMW UK and my dealer if the sDrive20i really does have hill start assist. BMW UK have not replied. My dealer did respond and he told me the car does have hill start. Today, he told me it doesn't.

Exactly, so you could've asked the dealer the question, and ordered the car based on his answer. Then he later tells you it doesn't have the feature...what do you do? I've just looked, and its still listed on the website - ok, so mistakes happen, but now we know BMW definitely know it is wrongly listed, shouldn't they have updated the page?

Are we expected to go down the list of standard features and get dealer confirmation on every single one?

In our case, statutory rights of a consumer should apply. I honestly hope it doesn't come to that.

We are exactly the kind of customer BMW should want to keep. The Z4 would be our sixth BMW. We are members of the BMW club and were planning to go to Zed Fest. I write blogs about our cars. I'm active in BMW forums, Facebook and twitter.

Number of previous BMW's means nothing! This will be my 8th BMW and when I tried to negotiate a loyalty bonus, I was told that when I get to 10 cars, then I can have a biscuit with my coffee....

Well I'm only on my second and I get tea, coffee, biscuits, juice, ... they must really like me* :)

* I seriously doubt it as I'm the pickiest s*d ever and that car goes back in for even the slightest thing! lol

Off topic:

BMW, especially BMW UK are the in the business of selling cars for profit.

BMW NA often runs some sort of loyalty bonus. On the X3 they waived the security deposit and we got a $500 BMW Car Club rebate.
They often have other loyalty programs as well.

BMW North America employees monitor internet forums although they rarely post. Sitemeter told me BMW NA even looked at my X3 blog. Dunno if BMW UK lurk on z4-forum or not.

The UK is a different market (company cars) with different offers and sales programs. The internet has changed the car business. More in the US than in the UK, but things are changing here too.

Waiting for response from our dealer. I think our Salesperson normally takes Tuesdays off.
