I just let it idle but all the new blue/green pish means it automatically shuts off when in neutral then starts up again. I can't be ersed with that. :poke:
 
here is the reply from my local dealer:

Hill Start Assist is a standard feature on the 35i and 35iS but not on the 20i.
 
So what's the feelings on wheter any compo being received from BMW after you have taken delivery and it is not as described?
 
Ermm.. does it definitely have things like the brake drying feature, and the dynamic drive control (Sport, Sport+)...? :? Sounds like they are just being mean.

No. It is listed as standard. You can't order an option if it is listed as standard. I still find it hard to believe that the car really doesn't have Hill Start Assist.

Haven't heard back from BMW UK yet. Just sent an email to our dealer. I'll post back here if/when I hear something.

what is not to believe, several people have told you the official line from BMW.
Do you really have to hear it for yourself ?

I know but if it is not standard (which they are saying) so it should be on the options list? so they have got it wrong on more than one place!

Please tell him to pass on his knowledge to BMW in Germany as they obviously have their facts wrong.

wrong, my dealer has just emailed me the list and spec guide for March 2012 and it clearly states "Hill Start Assistant (sDrive35i & sDrive35is Only)"
 
I bet its something like the start stop complicating the matter. TBH, I'd rather have start stop than hill assist anyhow... I mean hill assist is nice, but not a must have, just means you have to have better clutch control, and if you're getting an auto it hardly matters anyhow with creep.

March 2012 is for cars built starting with week 10 of 2012.
