Door speaker install. Help please

Hi guys,
I’m finally attempting to fit my door speakers.
I’ve come across some hurdles and questions if any can please help.
I’ve discover the grills have material behind them that I can remove. Is the the best thing?
It does show the speakers nicely without. Picture below with them just sat on the door cards.

Also one of the nuts that holds the blanking plate, and hopefully the speaker, wouldn’t come off as the thread started turning,
So I gripped it with pliers and removed it. But of course now I can’t get the nut back on tight to secure the speaker. Any ideas anyone please? Can I replace the thread somehow, or just go with 2 out of three screws?

Also is that normal behind the window switches? All that cream glue. This door is a little rattle and the handle trim hand been removed and broken previously.

Thanks
.

Personally i would leave the material as it keeps the Door looking OEM.

with regards to the plastic thread stripped.....get a tooth pick and push it in the hole and snap it off so the screw has something to bit on to.

If the doors off I would sound proof the door with deadening mat...but get the real deal not the stuff for flashing roofs, as it can smell.

I removed the material from the grills.
I decided it might muffle the sound and I like the look of the top hifi drivers.

This metal thread is rotating but should be fixed so I’m stuck still. It’s not plastic and nowhere to put a toothpick.

superglue

Regards the spinning thread, if you have a tap and die set, tap out a new thread. If it’s too far gone you could put some araldite in the hole; wait for it to dry; drill an appropriate size hole into it; then tap a thread.

I agree the top HiFi drivers look smart. If you have a full set, the subwoofers won’t work with anything except the DSP amp. The others should be fine.

[ref]Zedebee[/ref], thanks. I only bought these 2 drive units on eBay, for £20. A good buy I think.
I’m going from 6-8 speakers, well hopefully!
I’m not unhappy with the system and this basic system with the large footwell drivers and tweeters gives pretty good sound compared to some basic bmw systems I’ve heard.
PS I so t have a T&D set, that all sounds difficult.

I added subwoofers to the standard 6 speaker setup by tacking into the speakers above it and that seemed fine sound wise though, without DSP

[ref]pvr[/ref], looking good, trouble is that’s where I put our pack lunches and hats! 😆
It’s that basic hifi / extended storage pack.

Get another first aid box for under the passenger seat, that is the sandwiches sorted
