Door speakers for a 6 speaker setup

Hi everyone.

I have a 2004. 2.2. with basic 6 speaker configuration.
Last weekend, I installed a new door membrane for passenger door and noticed that I have a cable for a door speaker that is not used.

Does that mean that I can just plug that cable into a new speaker and it will work? Cable end looks the same as the one that is placed next to the side mirror.

I have searched but did not find a good answer. Only links to the same tutorial that adds cables. I wouldn't bother with that setup because it is not that important to me, but if I already have everything ready for plug and play, I will use that. :D

Unfortunately not. The early cars had the extra wiring in place for the ten speaker set up but it relies on having the amp in the boot as well.
My wife’s car has the wire in the passenger door but not the drivers side for some reason.
You will need to splice in to the tweeter wiring. I’ve done it on my 2.2 and it makes a decent difference.

Thanks for the answer! I believe it makes a difference but I am not unhappy enough with the current system to do that :D

It's definitely worth doing. Improves the sound a lot. Buy another pair of tweeters if you're worried about damaging something on your originals.

Whilst prefacelift cars before October 2004 are supposed to have all the wiring I have found that this really only applies to the main body of the car. The doors are not guaranteed to have full wiring for powerfolds, auto dimming or extra speakers.

Hi,
I've just made the same assumption 8)
Now that the speakers are fitted, is it possible to obtain and fit the amp in the boot, or am I going to disappear down a rabbit hole with no guarantee of success?
Shame - I was looking forward to some improved audio :|
Thanks,
John
