Do you look back at your Zed?

Judging from what you have all mentioned , I m worse than you. Sometimes I kiss her good-bye
I m deffinitely in need of a woman

Checked all the bits of legislation I can find and looks like nothing illegal in kissing cars - then I checked the Mental Health Act..........watch out for men in white coats!

blimey,
I like driving it more than I like cleaning it. I like to look at others as they drive past to get a sense of what it looks like in motion.
But................. at the end of the day, its a car to me

Its been done mate.... there called perimetric systems...... the alert sound is up to you

Hi Forum,

I don't want to alienate myself on this forum but I think those that glance back are either mad (have OCD at the least) or paranoid! Probably the latter...

I am the first to admit that it is a good looking car with presence, 'but', it isn't a piece of sculpture nor does it break the very laws of beauty like the to die for curves on a classic e-type for example. I agree that I sometimes ponder about the parking nightmare as so few people are considerate when parking their piece of 'sh*t' next to my nice Z. But, regardless of cost and beauty, it is there to be driven, and by doing so you must understand that you yourself will abuse it, stone chips, wear and tear. There is nothing worse than loving your car so much that you don't want to drive it as it may get damaged or dirty!?!?!? What is the point, after all it is only a car.

My point, don't look at it, drive it.

PS. Do we have any engineers/designers on the forum? Here is a million dollar idea, a car that has parking sensors around the entire car, sides, front, rear, that help you park but when you lock it they stay on, anything that comes within 12 inches of the car (people, other car doors, yobs - not the same as people of course) the lights flash and a speaker says 'don't touch my car *sshole'. You could even have a self record mode, you could have 'please refrain from touching my car, please' or just 'don't even think about it!' depending on your own personality. Do you think it's a good idea?

Devon-Doug (in Devon if you didn't guess. Are any other forum members in this area, meet?)
Its been done I think, there called perimetric alarms but the alert sound is customisable

I sometimes look back after parking, almost impulsively you could say. And yes i have been known to occasionally talk to it too but i am also firmly in the "prefer to drive it than stare at it" camp. My M is generally pretty dirty as i'm too bored to wash it but it still gets thrashed almost every day! :driving:

Yes i do it too! At least twice  I think i do it just to see how beautiful it is, and then think that it's mine :)

I also randomly look at it out of the window. And the day i got it back after my accident i hugged it

Yep, I'm guilty of the 'look back' when I park it up. Also, twice a day when I take my dog for a walk I look back at my Z on the drive and secretly admire it. If that makes me a complete saddo, then so be it. :D :D

Obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD) is a mental disorder characterized by intrusive thoughts that produce anxiety, by repetitive behaviors aimed at reducing anxiety, or by combinations of such thoughts (obsessions) and behaviors (compulsions). The symptoms of this anxiety disorder range from repetitive hand-washing and extensive hoarding to preoccupation with sexual, religious, or aggressive impulses. These symptoms can be alienating and time-consuming, and often cause severe emotional and economic loss. Although the acts of those who have OCD may appear paranoid and come across to others as psychotic, OCD sufferers often recognize their thoughts and subsequent actions as irrational, and they may become further distressed by this realization.

OCD is the fourth most common mental disorder and is diagnosed nearly as often as asthma and diabetes mellitus. In the United States, one in 50 adults has OCD. The phrase "obsessive-compulsive" has become part of the English lexicon, and is often used in an informal or caricatured manner to describe someone who is meticulous, perfectionistic, absorbed in a cause, or otherwise fixated on something or someone. Although these signs are often present in OCD, a person who exhibits them does not necessarily have OCD, and may instead have obsessive–compulsive personality disorder (OCPD), an autism spectrum disorder or some other condition.

Just so we know what we've all got.....! :D

Yes I always look back at it at least once and in shop windows when no one is looking at me as it looks even better with the top down

I do the shop window thing too  I can't help it, it's so sexy!

ahhhh that would be a big yes. Cant help it when i walk away from it and i have to turn back and smile a little. Still cant believe i actually own a BMW Z4 Coupe!!!!!!!!! :driving: :D My other half say i am 'sad' :( and that its just a car!!!! :x but then again she is moaning she wants a new Audi A3.

Right, so after 4 pages we've decided that we are all (aside a couple) more than happy to look back and admire our pride and joy. That's pretty cool.

So here's the view from my office window today - something of a torture as I'm always ready to drive it. I even have to take letters 1 at a time to the post office and even though only 1/2 mile I can be gone for 30 minutes in the Staffordshire lanes around my village :)

So my next dilemma. Since I can blip the fob and close the roof as I walk away when parking confident that it will close itself to the amazement of passers by should I:

Glance back and admire it and amaze myself as the roof closes and satisfy that OCD craving? (Coupe drivers need not respond)
Stroll away confident that it will be safe and that passers by are amazed, but if they see me looking will be forced to pretend they wern't looking.
Become busier at work this afternoon?
...or the option I've just taken to go post another letter.. :driving:
