Id say its pretty well rounded for what its meant to be used for and thats a fun car. Its for A to B with the roof down and enjoying the drive - its not meant for super fast track days, even the 35 isnt geared for that.

It all comes down to what you need and want? The E89 is a more refined car, but for me slightly misses the point. That being said for 90% of the target audience of the Z the E89 does a better job. More comfortable looks nice and has updated toys. The E85/6 will always be a more fun drive tho IMO.

Have you ever driven the 4M's Tim? Not intended as a dig, just curious because i think a lot of people who haven't don't appreciate how "different" (notice I didn't say better for the sake of peace-keeping) it feels.

I have yes, albeight a while ago now. I guess the comparison I can give between the Z3M and Z4M both roadsters wouldn't be a fair one as the Z3M was on a track day and the Z4M which I was looking to buy at the time was on a test drive so I was being careful but personally I would have a Z3M over a Z4M all day long, to me it felt a more tetchy exciting car to drive. BMW would never make anything in the same vein as the Z3M again. But its also down to looks for me, the Z3 has that timeless classic roadster look. The Bangle designs I feel suddenly became quite dated, I felt this when I had the E87 and when the F20 came out my car suddenly felt old hat. I don't feel that with the Z3, maybe beacause the design is so different from the Z4. I'm not knocking the Z4 but it never wooed me to replace the Z3 with one.

I was fuelling the Z3 up this morning at 6.30am and under the garage lights it looked superb and caught the eye of everyone who pulled onto the forecourt. Not bad for a 12 year old motor :)

I can't remember what the insurance value is on the policy, its only got just over 25k on the clock, but I doubt if I decide to trade in next spring I would get more than 2K if that. A dealer would probably sell it for £3995 to £4995 to make 1500 to 2K profit :cry:

It was a BMW AUC and paid 10,995 for it in 2008.
