Have you got those replaced now then?
When i come to sell mine, I could sell it through the forum. "One careful owner"kevinmarkwhite said:I agree that buying new is a total rip off when looking at it purely financially.
Paying thousands extra just to have the new car experience is silly, even though I've now done it twice.
Buying used saves a lot of money, but how do you know the car hasn't been thrashed?
i.e. I've had several loan cars from BMW and most have had under 1000 miles on the clock, so not run in. Never did they ask me to go easy with the engine etc, so assume other drivers would'nt have appreciated the run in process and possibly therefore not been sympathetic to it. Those cars then get sold on...but not run in correctly.
Likewise with other used cars, if it looks clean, you never really know its history.
So its not just the new car experience that is being paid for, its the full knowledge of the cars history etc.
Saying that, if it was the choice between buying used, or not at all, I'd buy used!!!!
I agree this is important and also some gentle driving as a cool down. A bit like being in the gym really. Warm up, work out and cool down.ronk said:Running in is not as critical as it was in the olden days. What is probably more important is getting the whole system warmed up before booting it.
