damp in fog lights

Cheers lads and lasses, well no I didnt reseal them or break them apart because I came to the conclusion that the seal is very good, I found that the bulb seal was more prone to letting anything in then the actual light itself , anyway we all no its a problem and if bmw replace them under warranty then make them pay, taking the other one out tomorrow and both looking as good as new again hopefully

If you all started a petition and then ALL independently complained into BMW separately - then they would have to listen!!

It's clearly a design issue!!!

On my prior roadster I had then changed twice under warranty / but it was a hard battle!

Well had the light back in for 5 days and its back to the same as it was totally agree not fit for purpose these are shite lights , will think of next course of action

I'd be happy with just condensation... Mine are totally corroded inside as well :(

different car i know but my elise indicator used to condensate terribly, i removed said item & drilled a couple of tiny holes at the back letting air circulate (so water couldnt directly enter)
the indicator dried out and has remained clear ever since.
regards

some one did mention this and it worked for them might give it a bash, just going up to the BMW garage now to see if i can bum two new lights off them first.

Mine are the same, removed them to look at refurbing them and noticed that the breather (Small square black plasic cap) is in top of the unit, just where water will sit  , look at any other light unit and the breather will be on the back or underneath.

The bloody thing will always eventually let moisture in unless it never gets wet - Not an option in the U.K.

Stu.

I had the same problem so followed the advice on another forum and have drilled tiny holes in the underside of the lenses to let the condensation out then put a Tiny smear of blue tac over these pinholes.
No problem now . More unsightly with condensation in them.
Plus I run with them on now and again to warm them through.

Has anyone tried drilling a few holes in the underside of the lens to fix this issue? if you have does it last ? does it knacker your lens? just had a quote of £101 per light Plus VAT , £250 is an expensive fix but it does look a mess.

Think im going to try drilling them, it makes me feel sick ever time I look at them. Tonymor did you drill the lens cover or the housing ?
and the £101 was from a dealer, I cant find them anywhere else. :headbang:

Isn't there a particular dealership that people use on here for cheaper parts? I'm not sure who it is as I've never used them.

Worth a try though as I know for a fact that they cost the dealer no more than £40+vat!
