Crashed the Z4 (E89) this morning.

thats bad news mate. had a couple of close calls myself today as idiots in front suddenly slowed down drastically for no reason when i was checking the rear view!

on the plus side, i still have my m sport front bumper for sale

Not good news, but at least you're ok.. Fingers crossed for the repair

Can you sort it without going thru insurance? Is the damage to your front end that bad? I assume the bonnet is crumpled too?

Sorry about the morning you've had :(

i thought that aswell when i hit the deer, looks like it would be cheap to start with then you have

xenons (around £900) , m sport bumper, headlight washers etc etc

my bill turned out to be over £4k and it was all cosmetic

Sorry to hear, hope it all gets sorted. Probably not possible if it involves the car in front, but as suggested if you can do it without involving the insurance it'll probably save you bags of cash at renewal time.

Sorry to hear it. Credit to you for Accepting the blame as too often it's 'someone else's fault'.

Hope it's more panel and cosmetic and nothing untoward underneath.

Sorry to hear this :(
I don't think that not involving insurance is going to be an option here though - because as G14RRV says, the costs are likely to be quite high. Plus there is damage to the other car to add as well, and you will still need to answer the 'have you had an accident in the past 3 years' question, even if you didn't make a claim. At least no one was injured. It's what we pay insurance for after all!

Gutted for you, I had to have my bumper repaired after a small incident with a wall and the bottom lip, hope you get it sorted ASAP

Went past a speed camera, looked in my mirror as you do to make sure it doesn't flash, look in front and the two cars in front had stopped suddenly.

Does this imply that if you hadn't checked the speed camera, you might have seen the car in front slowing and therefore reacted quicker and possibly avoided the collision?

If so, it proves......

SPEED CAMERAS CAUSE ACCIDENTS!!!!!

You were under the limit, but still felt the need to check (I don't know why, but I do that as well).

Hope it gets sorted quickly.

If a claim was not made and the damage was dealt with to the satisfaction of the other person, that's the end of it surely?

Agree - I thought you are asked to state accident claims in the last 3 (actually 5 I think now) years ?

yeah but the government would argue that the accident justifies the need for a camera there lol

IMO you'd be a fool to disclose it though. How would they ever know??

I'd never disclose it if settled privately....because you can put money on it that it would raise your premium

Wow can't believe how many replies this had.
But an update. Car is currently being repaired.
Total cost over £5k.
Initially costs were £4000. This was new bumper, grills and 2 headlights and clips and brackets.
£460 of this was labour.
£840 + vat for each headlight. The lights were still working but all the mounting clips were broken.
When the new bumper and headlights were being put back they discovered that the bonnet was creased. This is now being replaced.
15 mph crash £5000 cost.
Will definitely leaving a lot more room between me and the car in front.
Lesson learnt.

Holy moley, that's a whole lot of readies :o

Expensive lesson - using insurance then ?
