Considering chopping in the Z and Merc for this...

So I'm back from a test drive. This is a very large car on the outside and snug inside.

Very comfortable, to the point it almost matched the Merc air suspension but with better control.

There's a few wheel scrapes and a hopefully polish able scratch around 2" long on the driver door (white looking but not deep enough to click a fingernail). Other than that and usual front bumper road rash it's in very good nick. Interior is spotless.

Some very nice extras too... Seriously tempted.

I'm a fan of the older 6 and a even bigger fan of the new one. Beautiful looking car

I would stick a private plate on, only thing that lets it down imo.

I like the 6 a lot, except something bothers me about the interior - especially from the passenger position.

Aside the tanking residuals, diesel, average performance compared to the Z and lack of retractable roof... as an expensive Mondeo or A5 they are nice, just not really in the same category as the Z in terms of fun and experience. Dare I say, pretty forgettable cars - although this is the best 6 range for a long time (since the 635 csi era?)

If you want practical, why not keep the Z and buy something for lugging things around?

5.4 secs to 60 is pretty quick for the size though. Guess you have to have a 35i Z to get similar performance.

I wouldn't say no to that sort of performance  I guess the down side is you won't feel like you're going that fast because of the size and comfort. What you need is a big comfy car and a smaller fun car, like a Z4.....oops

How much are these new list? I would baulk slightly paying nearly 30K for a car with kerbed wheels and a pebble dashed front etc no matter how much new  Interior looks nice though.

Any idea why its at a Honda dealer? I wonder if the previous owner traded in for a Jazz

Crazy money Tim & the residual is bad. £70k + for well specced car new.Massive discounts available & 0% finance available. Saying that I would buy a other one. Total luxury & performance, only thing missing is no exhaust note.

70K :o wow I can see the appeal at 30K I guess, would be interesting to see how much you could beat the dealer down on a new one.

I did 2 1/2 years ago still a lot of money but I have a to say it's one of the best cars I've ever driven. Still love it, but the wife fancys a change :headbang:

Tbh the only thing stopping this happening is the Z is paid for. The 640d I'd have to shove £15,000 into or a loan at £440 a month for three years.

When I say things like that to myself I can't help but err on the car that's paid for...

Id be throwing that amount of money at the mortgage not a luxury car, but that's just my sensible side I suppose

Is the 640 really that more practical than the Zed? I know its a large car but I wonder if the boot is substantially much larger than the Zeds? OK you have the back seats. 440 quid a month is a fair wad of cash when you have a decent occasional summer car thats paid for and a practical not to be sniffed at Merc estate, just my take on it. For not much more than £440 a month I would be saying sod the practicality, get rid of both cars and get a new Porsche Cayman :)

Tim.

I said that and believe me it's s different type of car to so much else on the road, beautifully made and engineered

Don't you have to offset the Merc payments though as you are currently paying those now?

Just don't think I'm the Porsche type.

Whats the Porsche type?

Is it a bit like the stereotypical BMW driver? Then you come on to forums like this and realize we're from all walks of life.

Not meant to offend, a reflection on my own style.

Merc would simply be returned, it's equity neutral at the moment.

Tbh while I'd love the 6, I'm just back from the local dealer with my Z having passed its MOT in year 7 without issue, then add in no repayments and well....

Chances are I'll just hand the Merc back and get a cheap tank. That's what my head says... My heart however...
