Considering 2003 Z4 2.5i

Had the usual list of 2 seaters...TT, SLK, MG, Corvette and the like, and a few BMW 3 series...but not yet had a Z4. I've seen a lovely 2003 car, just 50,000 miles, two owner car and I'm tempted! It's for sale around £6,000.
Are spares for a 20 year old Z4 still easily sourced?
Any pointers in what to look for when viewing the car would be welcomed...
Cheers!

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Nothing specific to look for other than to make sure the roof opens and closes. If the roof motor hasn't been relocated into the boot budget £200 or so to get it moved. Where BMW put them often results in them getting drowned by water from the roof drains. :(

Other than that it's all the usual stuff to look for like oil leaks, cooling system leaks, tired suspension, etc.

Yes, spares are plentiful.

I would say £6k is a lot for a 2.5 even with that mileage.
It would have to be very nice, that’s toppy three litre money. Mileage is less important than condition at this age.

If it’s the one in Whitley Bay, by any chance, then it’s the best colour (obviously) but crying out for a wheel upgrade (it’s on 16s). Probably £2k overpriced.

Indeed...that's the car! I was smitten by the colour combo, though agree on the wheels.
It's already reduced by £1,000, but as you said, still at the high end price wise. It's been there for a few months now....maybe that's why.

This car is for sale, a 2.2 with very low mileage only two owners, and no accident history. It has a hard top which you could sell or negotiate the price. MOT advisory on rusty rear subframe which is probably just surface corrosion. Perhaps it will need paint on the bumper but I think 44000 miles could make it an attractive proposition. https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=144128

It’s a good looking, well prepared car. You’d have the comfort of buying from a dealer (whatever that’s worth), but there is better value out there. Plenty of Maldives Blue 2.2 and 2.5 out there at very reasonable prices and you should expect to get a 3 litre for that money. Don’t be afraid of higher mileages, buy instead on condition.
