Clear light and Angel Eye Conversion - The Project and Story

Ranski, did you say yours were wired up to the side lights but you have taken the side lights out so its not visible?

Yes they are wired up to the sidelights, in my case I have attached them inside the back housing of the headlight

Note that markeg is looking at using resistors or something similar, meaning the side light bulb can be removed from the circuit

If I feed the wire through the housing vents, do you think that will cause any issues?

Good idea, I would still keep the rubber grommet in place though

Just to muddy the waters, and following on from ste's thread on indicator bulbs

Has anyone noticed the L1, L2, R1 and R2 markings on the indicator storks?

I ask because I have had issues when putting headlights back together where I get the indicators blinking super quick. The indicator bulbs are fine and after (randomly) swapping the indicator storks around the blink goes back to normal

interesting.....

I didn't have problems with seating them, but I did have problems with the LEDs - they split the bayonet and I had to order another from Sopers. I'll look at the spare I also ordered to see if it has the markings....

Thanks - As mine dont seem to come in even numbers, what I mean is that I don't have even sets of the Rx and Lx storks

LED Angels and diffusers in place. For me this is the trickiest part of the process

On another note - you have to attached both angels / diffusers to the chrome sliver front plate. If you attached the inner angel to the actual headlight section it will catch on the front plate meaning you cannot alter the beam height using the dial on the dash

Not sure I can be any clearer than what I said

Just look at the last picture i posted and dont attached your angel there

Headlights sealed up, I just need to wire up the Angels

Markeg - let me know if you had any joy with the resistors, otherwise I'll just go the normal route and hook them up to the side lights

PS loving the diffusers - gives a clear band of white light

Hey Ranski - was just thinking about posting!

Tried the resistors (image here). Works well as no errors seen.... But (and its a big but) the resistors are getting too hot for my liking. So need to look at dissipating the heat by changing the resistance more - will let you know. If it works, it will be an easy substitution as am using T10 connectors.

Btw - whilst testing this and some other stuff, my 9v battery let go with a bang. First one I've ever had exploding on me!

Btw - also love the diffusers, agree they look excellent!!

We have acquired them from

Most if not all? Have just wired them up the the sidelight.

I think I have seen one member who drilled a hole in the backplate so he could hook up a relay to the fusebox, but the lights suffered from moisture buildup

I wired my LED AE's this way, just sealed the small hole around the wire with silicone. Been fine moisture wise. I wired mine with a couple of relays, one from an ignition live to make them a DRL (also added inline switch to deactivate DRL feature) and another really from the interior lights so the angels light up when unlocking the car

So, after our epic day yesterday of mods it's thanks to this thread that the AE and clear indicators are now on!

Marius did a BRILLIANT job with his hand made hockey sticks. Really do look great!

Wired simply into sidelight wiring and works a treat!
